New Afrihost ADSL bundle prices unveiled

I moved from Telkom Internet to Afrihost a year or so back. Telkom offers 25% discount if you move back and stay for a year. If you leave before the year is up, you have to pay back the 25% discount in TOTAL.

Line Rental: R399
Bandwidth: R399

Total: R798

VS

10Mbps uncapped bundle: R897

WAIT, so you're charging me R99 more to bundle my services... SERIOUSLY?
 
Seeing as Afrihost site is down at the moment, could anyone possibly give me some feedback on the uncapped business 4mb bundle? I wanna play with hosting my own web and email server, would it be possible with this package seeing as it provides for a static IP? also seeing as its a business product will I get 4mb up and down? or is it still 4mb own and 512 up ( like my current mweb 4mb premium). Have to say I'm very happy with mweb and a bit scared to move my line to afrihost but If I can get the static IP I can leave dyndns all together. Any advise and feedback appreciated.

Now hang your head in shame and run away to the UK where you can get your 1G per month connection for 1/1e999999999999999999999999999999999 of what you pay here.

Smart Village are also starting to offer 100Mbps connections to estates they service and Telkom is trialling 100Mbps FTTH for launch next year

Edit: Also you are misinformed about FTTH prices in Europe, depending on country it will range from about €80/m to €200/m for 100-500Mbps

So
the 25% discount is not simply a contract discount, but something that is offered (less officially)?

Their website lists it as R797

I'm sure once you start dealing with the useless call center at TI, you'll regret moving to them... I would gladly pay a little extra for the support service I get from Afrihost...

True, but I only plan to move my data across for now.....just to see if it's worth it.
 
Still, their call center is enough for me to stay far away from them... I remember when I called them to cancel my data and line with them, I waited something like 40minutes on the phone, and then the call center moron asks me why I want to cancel... then told me I had to wait 30 days for the cancellation to go through... I could swear if she was any closer, I would strangle her with the phone cord....
 
I wonder if we will be getting emails from AH asking to make a decision as to which package to upgrade/downgrade to.

We've already introduced provisional capacity which is seeing some very good results - go have a look at the Uncapped thread, feedback from CPT clients have been positive :)
Just had a look now, no shaping being applied for CPT at the moment.

I called the Afrihost customer support to ask about this. He confirmed that for existing customers who are on the 1mb uncapped bundle will be automaticaly upgraded to the 2mb uncapped bundle without paying the extra R100. He confirmed it will still be R297 per month and we will get 2mb uncapped data. I don't think he knows what he's saying but you never know.

Can anyone set the record straight.

Our Business accounts are completely unshaped :)
For what you're looking for, it's more than possible - you may not even need a static IP at first. You can always play around with DynDNS or services like no-ip.org.

The feedback from the Business Uncapped thread has been awesome!
