I thought I'll start a new thread.

I posted about this series in the Terminator thread but couldn't remember the name (bwana will know)

Anyway, I haven't watched an episode yet, but heared it's kinda like Heroes meets CSI. Anyway, download it and discuss it here :o

Yeah, that and Breaking Bad are my two new faves. Check them out!

Plot:

The main character is John Amsterdam (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), a New York homicide detective who is immortal. Amsterdam was a Dutch soldier in the year 1642 when he stepped in front of a sword to save the life of a Native American girl during a massacre of her indigenous tribe. The girl in turn rescued Amsterdam by weaving an ancient spell that conferred immortality upon him. It was also prophesied that he would not age until he finds his one true love, and only then will he become whole and ready for mortality. His immortality has resulted in Amsterdam spending more than three centuries marked by loss as his friends, lovers, and children gradually grow old and die while he is forced to remain alive. Amsterdam is also a recovering alcoholic who regularly attends Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, having remained sober since 1965. In his lifetime he has joined the Army three times, in addition to the Coast Guard, Marines, and Navy. He stated that he never joined the Air Force because he "doesn't like heights".

End of season aired last night - hope they renew it.

Good show, didn't realize ep8 was the last of Season 1 though. Damn writers strike.

I like the difference in the show that he has children and descendants and has to deal with them. Something you don't really see in the "immortal, living through time" genre.

I dont think it was truncated due to the writers strike. It got semi-cancelled the month before the strike started.

Well at least we know Monochoice will get the show now .... they love buying cancelled shows. Fsckers that they are.

I think there is a good chance Fox will pick it up for another season - hopefully a full one this time and not a filler.
