New and recent A class owners

Well except for the fact that stop-start is quiet annoying, I have no issues. I would like to know the conditions in which the stop-start function works, because it doesn't work all the time. This is normal behaviour for a stop-start system though.
 
If you have to be on the waiting list don't waste your time, when it first launched I waited one year before driving away with one.

No complaints thus far, just feel it is a bit under-powered. If you are getting the AMG package be sure to choose the comfort suspension over the sport suspension

None for me.

The only issues I have with the A-Class:

1.The wheel alignment! Its too sensitive. One quick trip on a patch of gravel road & the alignment is out :( Cant drive above 30km/h on gravel without the alignment going out :(
2. The front sensors are way too sensitive. Sometimes that triangle thing beeps & the red light stays on and there's no car even in sight. The C doesn't do that, so I'm not sure if its just my car or its across all the A models?

Crap service wrt communicating/updating the customer!! My (first choice)car was delivered & sold to another customer& I wasn't even informed until the following week when I called the dealership! I had to wait again! I waited 3 weeks!

You can switch off the *eco* button.
I've noticed that it stops working if you stop/start too often (like in peak hr traffic)

I think all the A's come with runflats. There's not enough bootspace anyway

oh, and I forgot to mention the wind noise as well :( If you driving fast - above 90km/h, it sounds like you have a window open. Mine has a sunroof (which I keep closed)- so not sure if its that or just the car itself.
My C also has a sunroof, but I dont have windnoise issues at all. Maybe its the A that has that problem?

When you buy a Merc in SA it's made according to your exact spec for you. So it takes atleast 3months. You sign an OTP and the dealer then places the order. Once the order is placed they get an exact date when it will roll off the production line which they can then relay to you. It's usually in your possession 2 weeks later once it's been shipped to the dealer and registered. There are price increases from time to time which the dealer will make you aware of when you sign the OTP as you pay the current price on delivery day, not on ordering day.

Giving deposits at the time of ordering is between you and the dealer. It's not necessary, you can say no.

If you are ordering your car in a popular configuration or are flexible on configuration you might get it much earlier as the dealer has the option to select from new cars that were ordered for other people whom no longer want them.

AMG/sports pack means lower ride height with more wheel and less tyre. Coupled with run flats the drive is harsh unless the road is perfectly smooth. So always try to test drive in the spec you want. Imho sports/AMG packs ruin the drive of Mercs, the avantgrade and exclusive packs have a good balance of comfort vs handling.
 
Stop start only comes into operation once the car has reached operating temperature. If the battery's state of charge is low then it will not activate. If the cabin ventilation system is heating or cooling the cabin, instead of just maintaining the temperature then it wont activate. Lastly if it's in sports+ it won't activate either.

I have the AMG/sport pack + runflats. Explains the *bumpy ride*... But I dont mind it :)

A45 comes with normal tires and a repair kit.

I don't mind RFT on W205 C-class and F30 3-Series because of the safety aspect. For high performance C63 and M3, normal tires are better.

My M4 has 19" normal tires, adaptive suspension. The ride using "comfort mode" is harder than a 4-Series with 19" RFT tires on "Sport mode".
