The Surface 4 is going to blow it out of the water.
The iPad Pro doesn't really compete with the Surface. Microsoft and Apple are pursuing two entirely different strategies with their devices.
Apple have been quite clear that they see the iPad as the start of their vision of the future of computing. Microsoft still sees Windows as their vision of the future of computing.
They're approaching it from different directions but ultimately they're trying to get to the same point. Mobile productivity. Somehow I think Microsoft got it right. Apple not so much.
How so? I don't see it as them trying to force Windows onto a tablet form factor but rather trying bit by bit to adapt Windows to what is seemingly the future of computing. They tried not to do it when they came out with Windows RT but that failed dismally so they went the obvious direction which in my opinion has proven to be a success. As to the experience, the fact that some apps are touch optimised and some are not may sound jarring but its hardly a trainwreck. People wanted full Windows and Microsoft gave them full Windows. Point remains, you can be worlds more productive on a Surface than an iPad Pro.Perhaps but in my view Microsoft has made a catastrophic mistake by trying to force their old paradigms on a new platform. The Surface is a terrible experience in my opinion.

And yet you have Microsoft suddenly pushing harder on Apple's platform than their own.
For years Microsoft basically ignored the Apple market seeing them as competition.
Now the new Microsoft is learning that they are another revenue channel and that they should just stay out of the hardware business.
Like I said earlier. Regardless of how you think the Surface competes in the same space, it doesn't because Apple people would never have bought it anyway.

It speaks volumes that Apple had to have Microsoft at their event so their new shiny toy doesn't look incredibly lame.
A vanishingly small amount of people outside of Microsoft wanted full Windows on a mobile device. One look at any mobile devices sales chart will illustrate that point.
I would personally disagree completely, but in reality that remains to be seen as the iPad Pro isn't out yet. It also depends heavily on what you define as productivity. There are worlds far outside of MS Office.
Actually it speaks volumes that Microsoft is now relegated to a productivity app developer on Apple's platform. Once they where the dominant platform owner and king-maker, now ...
Windows tablets and 2 in 1 sales rose 59% while iPad sales dropped 15%.

Kinda tells you that people do want tablets running a desktop operating system.
They still own the most dominant platform on the planet. Don't see how that's changed. How has this relegated Microsoft to anything?
In my opinion the future of computing is going to need to make a break from the legacy of the past. Apple is trying, Microsoft is not.
Ah the post PC mantra. http://www.theverge.com/2015/8/9/9115503/post-pc-is-just-pc This is where MS got it right... ->mobile is undisputedly the future of computing. Like it or not.

Right and what was the base of each of them that the growths figures where calculated against? A bit dishonest to mention highlight that. Easy enough to get a large YOY growth number with no base.

It doesn't work, Rpi on your Raspberry Pi is very different to the version you have on your desktop.
Are you saying that Azure is a legacy system?
