hay there
i just got the new HD 4850 card...

it seems that when i am in a 3D application (like 3dmark) the card displays the pixels wrong ( its difficult to explain what it is doing, but basically it looks like it ultra low color quality and shadows ( plus it flickers alot) ( can only show in photo) but still it is in high quality mode at 1680x1050 res with full aa and af. looks like the colors is not blending and the shadows is not smoothed out. it hard shadows with lots of dots around it...3D applications looks like the colors wont blend forming lots of small blocks...Please help

hows the cards heat doing?
you might have a "bad card" and you might have to get it exchanged...

But this is very odd... very very odd...

Please don't tell me you are using the driver came with the Driver CD, try the latest 8.7.

Uh. Could you maybe give us a screenshot?

I assume you're using the latest official ATI drivers for your operating system.

You might want to try uninstalling them, running Driver Cleaner, and reinstalling them again. You might have left-over drivers from your previous card causing you grief, although I doubt it.

Besides using the new 8.7 driver as mentioned above, you can also d/l and install the hotfix patch updater thingy on ATI's website.

i did try the new drivers, now performance has taken a dip, not 71GBps anymore, it on 50GBps now, damn drivers, 500 3dmark06 down than prevision.

noob question...uhmm.. how do i post a screenshot here?

I'd say that with the hotfix and the latest 8.7 installed. I have achieved tremendous results in 3DMark.

Perhaps it may be a heat issue, now the next thing you haven't fiddled with the ATI Overdrive function in the CCC?

yup the Hotfix is great - still need to get 8.7 ccc though... anyone hosting it local?

no i have not fiddled with the overdrive systems, and card is stable at 40C

Those screenies dont really show much...What are we looking for?

okay i see the quality is low.. anyways it forms some sort of checkerboard patterns all over the place.

if you safe the file and zoom in you will see it (and thats how it looks like in Very high quality) and i did try lower settings, same old ****.

AMD/ATi is to know help to me...

if yu zoom into the other photos you will also notice some discoloring in the scense. the worst if what it does with DVD's....not only is it checkerboard patterns but lines as well... weird lines (not disruptive line)

i can take the card back, i am in the process of getting the to replace my motherboard, i need solid info to approach them with

(movie almost look like it is recorded on a cellphone and the played back on pc)

the best pic to describe how things look is in the bell photo, zoom into the black area..

Ok i see what you mean, it almost looks like its running in 16 bit color mode...If everything is up to date then I would say you may have gotten a bum card.....One last thing though, you mention movies look bad, have you updated your codecs?

so ATi said that is normal, that it is just the game??WTF does anyone elses games look like this 16bit checkerboard patterns gaming?

new screenshots posted
