That’s really BS if you ask me......It is supposed to be a good card, everyone seems to be going crazy over the 48 series cards...My only Question when they announced them was / is - Why are they so cheap?? The performance to price ratio to me is almost too good to be true….

What Cr&p product(s)? I've yet to see a review that don't hail these cards as superior value etc etc. I also just got my 4870 and I have no complaints - It performs like crazy!

I'm sitting here trying to understand what dr.grimm's problem is with his card but to date I've not seen one proper screenshot to work with.

@dr.grimm Let 3Dmark06 pop out a screenshot for you using the 'Image Quality' & 'Filtering and AA' button and then upload the file to http://imageshack.us/ or something similar please.
 
hmmm.... as I said, this is odd... this is the last thing i ever thought would come from ATI, they've always had the better image quality over nvidia. I barely can notice the problems you seem to talking about, but i'm sure they must get annoying when you play game?

maybe send it back to the place you got it and say that they must fix or you want a refund because this card it not performing at the level that it should, and the image quality is terrible.

BTW, what brand is the card? Asus, Sapphire, etc?
 
All screenies look great to me and my wife (graphic designer) sees nothing wrong with the image quality.

My 4870 flies along beautifully no issues :)

save the image and the zoom in...especially the one of the big bell, it make a some sort of checkerboard pattern that is really annoying with that some objects looks like it is in 16bit color mode. that just some of the issues i cansome on screenshot... shadow flickers and lines all over the place

it is a sapphire... i already tried, they say its normal, its damn annoying, my 8600gt didn't do that kind of crap... any ATi told me to update drivers...hahah big mistake, 10003dmarks down in the score and got a 10GB/s drop in Total Memory Bandwidth in GByte/s "59 GByte/s "

ATi/AMD final verdict was...send it back... i first need some hard evidence and comments to proceed

some people just can't handle the ATI :p

But maybe if it's really bothering you, then fly the card, Overclock it and let it run 3d mark continuously for a day and seal the air vents, then when the card is well and truly fsck, take it back and say " I F***ING TOLD YOU THIS CARD WAS MESSED!"


but seriously dude, maybe you being a lil to critical here, oh, and check that your graphics card isn't running in 16bit.
Right click on desktop, then go properties and then go to settings then look at colour(color) quality and make sure it's running 32bit

It is a JPG image - It has been compressed - and it is low quality, so no use looking at that. Lets begin at the beginning.

1) What make is the card? Ok, Sapphire.
2) Did you plug in the power plug of the card?
3) Download & Run this run the validation under the validation tab. Post that validation code please.
 
Upload a high-quality image at Imageshack, it'll help us identify the exact problem and possibly a solution :)

jap i know.. am studying IT Engineering... no it is at 32bit. i have see the game, assassins greed on peoples pc with lower specs than mine, and it does not look like that...
 
Are you using the DVI to VGA converter that was in the box? Cause sometimes those can be up to **** and really mess up your image. I had that with an nVidia 9 series card. :( And secondly is everything default in CCC, cause if you mess with settings in that, oh boy, you can get some seriously wack problems.

ja that's the point, that checkerboard pixels effect, that wat i see in the high resolution 1680x1050 game play... it looks like the in the pic, but the clothing and objects textures is checkerboard and lots of colors in the world looks 16bit (you can see black, but can see all the other color that black consist of)
