Seems like finally all the Koreans are getting with the lets-make-good-looking-cars program. With sexy Kia and Hyundai models hitting the streets its good to see that Deawoo is catching up.

This is what the new [-]Deawoo[/-]Chevrolet Aveo will look like, a remarkable improvement I'd say :

Guess on the price this will retail at here in SA?

I must say if it keeps to the "cheaper" car range it is a serious contender for my next car :D

Like the front but the designer just stopped drawing after that... back is just a block, bamm done. Like he's hand was tired or something

I have 2009 model, not the best looking but the later models after mine had ****ty interior, real plasticky kak.

I paid R105k brand new in 2009.
Have not had any issues with it, just not as powerful as i wish :)

The front almost looks like the new Chev Camaro....I like!! but the back.... ffs... It looks like the new spark which IMO is the ugliest car since the
Ford Ka(k)

This car will be sold here as the Sonic (the current Aveo will be with us for a while) - a 1.4l at about R155K and a 1.6l at about R167K

Ok the back actually does not look that bad....but I will rather go with a new Kia Rio though....

Nice rear! Something about the front feels like they copied the VW Sirocco and squared it out a bit. It certainly is a more tame design than the Beat concept which resulted in the Spark. If they price it right it could be a very good competitor to fellow Koreans like the i20 or Rio.

Thing is they always show the top models is pictures....and the pricing they give is always for the base model....so yeah it might look alot different than this!

Looks different to the car in the OP (specially the C pillar). Is this maybe the concept?

*edit* yup, here's the production version's rear end. Not great.

When are they going to work out that the grille badge is supposed to go on the grille and not the bumper??!

Uhm, that's part of the Chevy styling DNA, its called split bumper.
They also do dual cockpit and a few other trends that is applied throughout the Chevrolet range.

Much better.. Don't like the rear though and I hoped they removed the tupperware interior.

Seems the new Sonic will be on our roads within this month, here is an advertisement for it from the back of CAR Magazine.

This is one very good looking Deawoo and like some of their best models it is based on a GM-Europe platform. In this case its the Gamma II platform, the successor to the very popular Gamma platform as used by the Corsa D, Fiat Grande Punto and Alfa MiTo.

Engines will be the 1.4 Ecotec 74kW unit as found in the Corsa Essentia, a 1.6 Ecotec with 85 kW as found in the entry level Astra and hopefully also the 1.3 CDTi (JTD) with 70 kW. Interestingly it seems all models will have ESP which could give it the cutting edge over competitors like the Rio and i20. If priced right it will also be a good alternative to the Corsa and Polo.

Are they calling it the Sonic?

SRP for this badboy?

I am still car-less, my parents hit a financial speed wobble but things seem to be fine now and as soon as varsity finishes im getting a new car (could be secondhand)

Yes, this will be sold as the Sonic since GMSA is keeping the Aveo in the their product line up. No idea yet on the price, but I would think its going to be about R150k for the 1.4 in order to keep it competitive.
