Which is why I said 'personally'.

But you'd have to be a bit dense to use that argument. The Axxess 5, 10, 15, 20 and 30gb offerings ARE ALL MORE EXPENSIVE THAN THE WA et al at r199. Seeing as nobody knows whats happening after October anyway why pay more for the next 3 months.

I am currently an axxess subscriber and I am currently disappointed. I'm giving them until the end of the day to make things right.

Edit: the current rates for 30gb:
1st place: WebAfrica & Isoftnet - r199
3rd: Imaginet & SAOL - r299
5th: Axxess - r349

I'm very surprised by their silence. It either means they have not made up their minds, which is crazy, or they can't/won't match Web Africa's price. As I said in another post - if they are not going to match the price, at least let us know so that we can decide which ISP we are going to join. Considering the 1st is about 2 days away, they are cutting things a bit fine. Maybe thats their strategy, but in the meantime they're losing clients.
 
Yeah - I think the silence is doing them more harm than anything else - oh - that and the higher prices ;)
 
Weekend's almost over and therefore so is the month. Its time to make a decision - r349 for axxess or r199 for WebAfrica.
 
i would go for axxess, i dont like the whole "3 month promotion thing".
what about hyperlink?

Normally I would agree but as nobody can say whats going to be happening in 3 months I figure perhaps its better to save while I can.

Also - I dont like the Axxess' silence on the whole matter.

Definitely Web Africa for me. By Axxess not coming back to us has actually made my decision easier.
 
I am also going to change on monday. I thought about axxess, webafrica and hyperlink. Not sure which one to go for either. Hopefully once the webafrica promotion is over the price will go up to about R350 like the other ISP's. Hyperlink is based here in East London and I know them personally so I am not discarding them eithre

What worries you about the promotion?

I think Web Africa's 3 month promotion was a brilliant idea to bring in business.

Once the 3 months are up you can decide whether you want to stay or go. All they have to do to keep me after the 3 months are over is to offer me top notch customer service and keep their prices very competitive.
 
I've been with Axxess for about 2 months now, and have been very satisfied with the value I'm getting for my money.

Competition is always good, but to always want to go for the cheapest product/service might not always be a wise choice.

I don't know what tricks these ISPs use to offer these low rates, but I would think that once they start going below a certain price (whatever that may be), then the medium/long-term financial viability of the company is at risk.

Surely the fire-sale of 30gig accounts must impact the quality of service of all the users of an ISP?

Compared to the likes of Mweb (that's a given!) and even Telkom, Axxess' prices are very cheap, and since I only need about 10 or perhaps 20gig transfer, I'll stick with them.

I actually hope they don't lower their 30gig rate... Should put less strain on their resource if they don't get a lot of "power-users".

i am worried that when the promotion is over the price will go back to R599/m. i know that i can just change ISP again if they do but I would rather stay on one, I hate switching

AFAIK 'their resource' is from the same pool as everyone else.

I dont like switching either but these days its a pretty painless process.

Surely their access to this pool is not limitless? Don't they buy a certain number of accounts that they then share? If so, then heavy users must impact casual users in the end.

But I'm just speculating here, since I don't know how their set-up works.
 
hyperlink activated my accounted and faxed all the details within 5 minutes of faxing my application. they and saol together got the price war thing going, which is why i chose them - reward those who take initiatives. think of it this way: had it not been for these two, everyone would still be paying R500+ for a 30gig account
