New AXXESS pricing.

Me thinks Telkom wants everyone to get ADSL and is standing back at the moment watching the ISP's do it for them.

Think about it.
I know of several people in the last week that are all talking about calling Telkom to install ADSL, because of the "ISP Price War". Not because the line rental came down R50.00

of course, they eventually will profit off this... sneaky

What worries me is some back room deal where the isp's eventually set their own common price. AKA collusion.

Not saying its going to happen - just that the possibility concerns me thats all.

Telkom has made me paranoid
Psst - I think they're watching me

Too many of them for that to happen... I am more worried about Telkom and the SNO working together...

Thats as inconceivable as Vodacom. MTN, and CellC colluding to fix prices at similar levels. Now correct me if I'm wrong but we all benefited from the added competition there.

The fine print
the above was said with compete and obvious sarcasm!

Can some one explain these here price wars to me?plz...are they legal...will telkom find a loophole to stab us in the back...how is the connections ? like stability and technical support?

I'm thinking of getting one of these, but like bwana said, telkom made me paranoid to..
how will one of these accounts effect my local pings? will they stay the same? what is the difference between them and the telkom accounts and are they good or bad differences

thx
The noob

Telkom will probably be changing the billing system in the next couple of months. Apart from the price the accounts are identical to the Telkom 3/6/9gb ones so go for it while you can.

My paranoia stems from what I see as a SA phenomenon whereby increased competition doesnt lead to price cuts. Look at cars and cell phone co's for 2 examples.

I see they are now offering free dialup and dynamic DNS on selected accounts, although there is no mention on which accounts. The dialup part was important to me, but the dynamic DNS is a nice bonus. I'm getting more and more impressed with these guys.

I really like that they offer so many different sized accounts. Although there is not much difference between the package prices, it's still nice to have a choice.

Axxess, have you guys had your meeting concerning lowering prices to meet Web Africa's 3 month special? I'm cancelling my Telkom account and need to know where I'm going to be signing up.

Not yet, I will be cancelling before the end of this month. I'm aware that some people have been having problems with their accounts not being cancelled, so I'm going to hammer them to make sure they do this properly.

I am waiting for next month to see if it is cancelled, I think that you have to give them a months notice b4 cancelling. Who you movin 2?

I'm not actually sure about whether Telkom expects a months notice - I still have to find out. Does anyone know for sure?

I'm waiting to hear from Axxess whether they will match Web Africa's 3 month special before I decide who I'm moving to.

I signed with Axxess yesterday, took all of 5 minutes.
I specificaly went with Axxess not because they were the cheapest, but because they offered one thing the other dudes dont and that was T-Zone access for free, which for me is an invaluable extra so I will gladly pay a bit more for it.
I see now there is a dns service and other things, I think they have consumer issues at heart so give or take a few bucks and I aint going anywhere.

When i quit telkom, there was no month's notice. it was effective instantly (although i had to call twice to make sure it was done :)

Thats what I thought, thanks for confirmation :)

Just to let you know Sneeky, all SAIX based ADSL accounts have free T-Zone access.

As far as I know, it is limited to a specific number of 30 minute sessions though.

Thx, never used to be like that though, Tiscali for one never offered this feature, i asked on numerous occasions, even after they were taken over by MWeb as MWeb had it as a feature on their DSL packages. I phoned this morning just as a matter of interst and it appears as if they do offer it now, according to the chap I spoke to they started adding it to their service about 2-3 months ago.

me too :)
am very happy to be keeping the guys down in PE, in new lava lamps, surfboards and hookers. Nothing nicer (or more rare in SA) than a company that has good efficient quality help and service.
Well done Axxess. Don't let the money go to your heads, maintain the daily whippings and pep talks with staff, and we satisfied customers'll keep on coming back to ya :)
