EVF is pretty nice
Only if you're not used to an optical one.
and apart from the new Nikon SLRs still cannot take videos.
New Canon too, so what's the problem? This time next year most, if not all SLRs will be able to do video. With proper AF and metering and for cheaper too.
Why must I buy a device to do just one thing? If I buy a camera I expect it to take videos and pictures and do both of them well.
Different strokes for different folks. You're talking like someone who has no or little SLR experience. That's clearly your perspective and what you base your decision on. When I just got my DSLR I was quite happy to flip back and forth between it and my fairly high-end P&S. But after a year, I can tell you that no P&S or bride or pro-sumer or whatever, no matter how cool and what features it has, compare to a DSLR at all for taking stills. Based on that, I don't care how many other devices I need, I'm happy with what the SLR gives me.
Also keep in mind that not everybody cares about video.
