Just bought a new puter from loose components and after installing it found that it would suddenly freeze. that is, the cursor would freeze, cant access task manager or anything else, only way out is a restart. It is a dual core pentium with a biostar mobo. I believe there may be an issue with hyperthreading but dont see any obvious way to turn it off in the bios. Its not a drive problem or OS as both are from my old machine, and I did the reload twice just in case. I am thinking there is a heat problem but the only way will be to swop out 1 bit by 1. It does seemt o be running better with its covers off too. Unfortunately there is no real pattern either which makes it even more fun. Any ideas or suggestions?
Oh, and taking it back.... well, I wont put my foot in the shop where I bought it ever again. They are a thoroughly bad experience and I regret my purchase big time, but its done so I better try get this thing to work.
