Thanks Sinbad. I have just spoken to cisp support. I will give them a chance to respond failing which I will try calling Vuma directly.

Have not heard anything from cisp support so I tried Vumatel. All I get is the bouncing ball treatment. They dont see any problems on line from their side so I should take it up with my service provider....

Update – Cool Ideas did some magic in dealing with Vumatel – yesterday afternoon two technicians from Vuma arrived and swapped out both the SFP and the CPE. For the first time I can report good international speeds:

Vumatel has some highly trained staff at their call centre. Not trained in networking or IT but trained in how to try to convince the customer that it is not their fault but the ISP’s fault. Thanks to everyone for their advice and recommendations and especially to PBCool – without him I would still have been butting my head against the Vuma Help Desk.. did I say Help Desk??
