New desktop PC advice

Ok, thanks. This is what I have:

(pcint) AMD Phenom II X6 T1055, 6MB, AM3, Six Core R 2,050
(pcint) 2 x 2GB DDRIII-1600 Hyper-X (Kingston) R 625 incl. = R1,250
(pcint) 500GB-7200RPM 16MB Cache SATA II R 401 incl.
(pcint) 550W ATX Power Supply R 376 incl.
(pcint) Coolermaster Tower Case -Mystique ATX - No PSU R 454 incl
(take2) Asus M4A88TD-V R*1,653

Total is R6184

Spend more on that PSU. Nothing worse than buying good components and then losng them to a cheap PSUs power surges.

Very true! I've had it happen a few times that the power surges or drops and my amp an tv switch off but my pc carries on going. All connected to the same plug :)

Talk to Conradl and maybe he can help you as well with the Gigabyte Odin 585w PSU. I love them and they are pretty cheap.

That "585watt" is a real 460watt. That's why they are cheap.

Some people knock the Odins, but there really is nothing wrong with them. A lot of people who buy them are looking to upgrade from a no-name brand PSU that probably only does 150watts or so. Obviously the Corsairs are better, but it is hard to justify a VX450W with a "real" rating of 450W and a real price tag of R750, versus a Odin585 for R480.
