New DStv “Explora” decoder may be here soon

A bit off topic, but what is a flash reset or more to the point, how is it done?

from what i understand it does a cleanup on the pvr, and recreates the configs for the pvr, each model has its own procedure

Pace HD PVR 4 Tuner
1. Reboot the decoder (from power cable or from front panel)
2. Immediately PRESS AND HOLD the following keys simultaneously: STOP, EXIT, P+
3. Keep them pressed for quite some time (30-60 seconds) until you see CLEARING FLASH scrolling on the front panel
4. Press OK button and decoder will display PASS on the front panel
5. The decoder will then reboot after a while, no further action is required

Pace HD PVR 2P
1. Reboot the decoder (from power cable or from front panel)
2. Immediately PRESS AND HOLD the following keys simultaneously: UHF, P+ and TV/AUD
3. Keep them pressed for quite some time (30-60 seconds) until you see RESET scrolling on the front panel. Press PLAY to confirm
4. Press OK button and the decoder will display PASS on the front panel
5. The decoder will then reboot after a while, no further action is required

UEC HD PVR 4 Tuner
1. Reboot the decoder
2. Press and hold REC and P+ together
3. Wait until the decoder displays 3==3 on the front panel.
4. The decoder will then go through a scan and tune to channel 100"

flash erase on a 2U:

1. Reset the decoder
2. Then press and hold “TV/Audio” and “UHF” buttons on the front panel
3. Release when the decoder indicate “3==3” on the front panel
4. The decoder will the boot up and scan and tune to channel 100

Personal settings that will be reset include xtraview, lnb/satcr and remote settings , you will also have to reset your recordings
 
When I still had DSTV I was astounded by the fact that the remote controls were absolutely pathetic. It had almost zero range, and you had to point it directly at the receiver for it to be working... Wonder if it has changed at all over the last few years?
