New DStv Extra package launched

why cant they introduce pay per channel??? If you want 6, you pay for six. Have different prices for different channels.

The way the Boks are playing, who needs SS1 anyway?

Multichoice (and other providers overseas) have said that it is not financially viable to do it this way. So don't expect it happening anytime soon.

Exactly. People that watch rugby and cricket can afford the premium package. Soccer is the people's game so leave it for us on lower end packages.

What nochoice should have done was bundle S2 and SS5, 6 or 7 with this bouquet. Reason being, if u want rugby then you should go for premium and soccer fans are compact and cricket fans go for Extra.

Switch SS3 and SS4 for SS1 and SS2 and I'll sign up.

Is soccer rights cheaper than rugby rights?

People on compact live in shacks while rugby watchers live in the 'burbs are of a higher LSM, just logical that you'll never see those outside of prem.

I would love to see a pay to view per game on DSTV. I don't need to watch every game, but e.g there are around 3-4 games a month I would watch.

I'm on Compact at the moment, for the extra channels they offer there is absolutly no way I'm paying R100 more. If they added Discovery channel to that bouquet, I'd have gone for it maybe...

I'm not to bothered about the Sport channel either, there are plenty of places online that I can watch all off the rugby anyway.

I think they anticipate that people might upgrade from compact.

I think they are getting it wrong if they think like that.

The reason why they are beating TopTV is because they have premium sport.

Not playing the sport card is like doing nothing.

Add Mnet and Super Sport then i can cancel my full package / down grade

This is exactly why they don't include those. How many people do you think will stay on their premium package if they offer the sought-after-sport channels and Mnet on the cheaper package? Use common sense.

Wow. I'm on Compact and so are lots of my friends and family.

I never realised this is what some people think.

What MC must do is lower the price of the premium package and then create a new package that's all HD. At a price lower than premium of say R500. With the current premium at R400 or somewhere abouts.

The sport channel that is the mainstay of premium is rugby IMO (SS1).

SS has about 11 channels. Compact has only 3 SS channels. That leaves 8 channels to play with, 7 if you leave out SS1 for premium. DStv Extra should have at least 5 or 6 SS channels.

Thats common sense.

Let's call it low cost housing. But yes lots of shack dwellers have DSTV on compact to catch Diski.

I think it is this crude bifurcation that probably drove DStv's thinking in creating this bouquet.

Can't people just think that there are people who are neither rich nor poor / living in shacks vs living in massions. Thats why they come up with and then prescribe bouquets like compact vs premium. And then after that come up with Extra.

Personnaly, I am not a huge fan of sport, but I can't do without it either. I can actually do without the diski you speak of. I am on Compact because it has English Football. They can take SS4 and put it on another lower bouquet (for people who may be sacrificing their bread/school fees money to watch SS4) and replace it with SS2 or SS5/SS7 and I'd move. And I am sure a lot of people would too.

If I really want diski, I'll watch SABC1.
