New DSTV HD Decoder

i dont get this, the current HD PVR require 4 LNB cables yetyou can only watch 1 chanel and record 2 at the same time, this new one requres only 2 LNB cables and lets you watch 2 chanels and record 1 at the same time. Is it me or does this not add up?
 
DSTV will NEVER do a dual-view decoder again as the SD-PVR gave them far too many headaches..... extra view is the future I'm afraid no matter how much we would love dual-view :(

Duel view will never be made available again - thats why xtraview was brought out - don't know where you got hold of that rumour.

I wanted to get a DSTV installation for the world cup so I phoned up the people who installed the whole dish system in my apartment complex as they seemed quite clued up. The guy gave me a call 2 days ago saying someone from multichoice phoned him about a new decoder. Today he got an email/newsletter from DSTV with the updates about the new decoder. So I am sure other news like this will be popping up all over the place. I was sceptical about the news at first but he gave me a proper quote so it seems true. Asked him all the details about the decoder and they match the ones in this post. Only 2 lnb inputs, no dual view, can record one channel only.
 
Surely it should also come with extraview???
 
Extraview is not a device-specific 'feature' so yes it will have this functionality.

yeah but you need to get a new thingy, with a dual feed, on the dish which costs about R700? the white camera shaped thingy i cant remember the name

so you looking at something between R2500 and R3000, i really dont see the difference
 
Well it looks like a nice piece of equipment I must say.
 
For a lot of people, like me, it will be a lot cheaper. I live in a complex, only have one lnb but can connect a second but the cable has to be pulled through.

This decoder with installation will cost me around R3000 whereas the old one would have cost R5000 (R3000+R2000 installation, inc multiswitch). R3k I can live with but 5k would have really hurt
