New DSTV HD Decoder

Any comments about the frame dropping ? Does this happen on the Pappa HD PVR's at high resolution ???

It's not the plasma TV, I can play Blu-ray movies at 1080/60i, and its fine ! So it's the Baby Pace !

Anyone else have dropped frames on the Baby Pace ?

My LNB's have 98% and 100% reception, so it's not that.

Nope, I assume you've experienced it on a few shows & eliminated that it could be broadcast issue of a particular show?

Yes, it was on more than one channel. But let me play a bit over the weekend and see what happens.

What resolution did you use - it seems to default to 720/50p ? I changed it to 1080/50i, looks better on my display - maybe the Baby pace can't handle that ?

My setting is Original but yes it seems to default to 720p, I did try it with the setting at 720p & 1080i as well without any problems
The 4 tuner HDPVRs I run at 720p

I have just been home to check my PVR after the installer had left...... the BABY is SOOOOOO much faster in response than the bigger HD-PVR's - I can't believe the difference!

I didn't notice any frame drops or anything - just a beautiful picture :)

@evilsee
The main noticeable difference between the New pace baby decoder and the planned UEC baby decoder (hopefully to be released by end of year ) is some design differences and that the UEC model has Component out which the Pace model doesn't have.

AFAIK, you'll only be able to get HD over the HDMI interface - as it uses HDCP. The Component will be limited to SD (i.e. HD and SD channels will just be output as SD via component).

REALLY?

Yes, that's right. It needs HDCP which it can only get from HDMI. Component will still look better then Composite/RCA but it wont be HD

Doh!

And i wanted to run component from the decoder to the tv in the lounge and HDMI to my tv in the room. Now i have to find a HDMI splitter and 20m cable, which will cost a lot, oh yay...

But thx for the heads up

Havent bothered reading post following on from yesterday's "single LNB' debate

I can confirm mine is running 100% on SINGLE LNB inputted into TUNER 1 - confirm both VERTICAL/HORIZONTAL polarisation through tuner 1

NO LAG (on SSHD) - Probably cos i have plasma
NO DELAY - when using remote or EPG (operates same as SD Decoder)
EPG works fine

I'm one moerse happy chappy!

Obviously i can't record at this stage.
Can't confirm whether it is cos of recording channels polarisation different to viewing channels polarisation

I think for the 'record' it needs to 'lock-in' one LNB line...while you are able to 'browse' on the other line.....looks like the 'splitter' idea will not work...

did you call MC to have it activated..? I run an xtraview setup with two 1110 decoders and they said I should bring in the new HD decoder and BOTH 1110 decoders to set up the whole thing for me to make it as easy as possible when I get home...

I dunno hey...like i said i can't confirm.
maybe if you change LNB setting to SATCR 'fooling' it to think it's SATCR and therefore possibly recording and viewing on different polarisations maybe?
not sure if my logic is sensible

called multichoice YES.
I lied to them telling them i had Dual LNB...cos i just wanted to get it to 'VIEW' for the Super14 final
They then continued to marry the decoder and smart card, and VOILA!

I later fooled around with VIEW and RECORDING, but admittedly not much..
hence me not sure bout viewing and recording im/possibilities

No need to go to them if you know how to setup.

That might be easier, but if you do it from home leave the 2x 1110's connected & then call them. They will need them to be connected so that they can break the connection between them, if this isnt done then you cant connect the HDPVR. And then make sure you know which decoder is which cos they will ask which you want to keep connected so you will need to know which smartcard number belongs to which decoder

what u doing with the other 1110?
Once you get HD there won't be a use for it?
*wink wink*
