New Feature in iBurst (iBurst Browser Hijacking & more)

Is it perhaps possible to rather have some sort of "popup" show every however many clicks instead of interrupting the users browsing session?

The every-so-many-clicks will just annoy those that suffer from excessive clickanitus. (a prolific browser, I can easily have 20+ tabs open at a time)

The once a day is much more palatable, I believe. And you'll get a 'click-through' button on the page.

So pretty much all it'll take from you is one extra click per day.

Time-based (once-a-day) should go in within the next day or so and will have a button to carry on to the requested site.

So you should see the screen at logon and after that once per day. And the screen will be as requested by the forum.

Looks like this will be done soon and then we can start working on an opt-out.

This is reasonable, it will make the help desk people happy and us the customers happy.

Thanks for listening...:)

That's the beauty of forums like these. Sometimes companies just make simple mistakes (in this case we did not properly consider what "30-clicks" mean).

But with near-real-time feedback, we can respond and/or fix stuff. (Even though it sometimes takes longer, like with iBOSS)

And before everyone starts, we're also hearing you (loud and clear) on the product suggestions / pricing discussions. ;)

Thanks Jannie, much appreciated. Good to know our moans aren't going unnoitced. Also, I'm glad you're still reading the pricing/bandwidth discussions, we're impatiently awaiting some sort of an announcement.... We want more bandwidth for less and faster throttling SOON! :-).

ETA for opt-out? I cannot use the service until then. I just can't have guests using an in-house internet connection getting iBurst nag screens instead of the pages they've clicked. Not daily. Not once. Not ever.

"Faster throttling" we can do immediately.

From now on we'll throttle you when you've reached 50% of your cap, not 100% as is currently the case. That's twice as fast.

If you want, we can make it even faster, maybe at 30%?

:D

It'll be part of the the iBOSS change request process. Will check.

Not trying to go OT, but you're exposing your guests to 64Kb/s browsing?

That's just cruel! :)

Hey, they get it for "free". Seriously, I have to pay those disgusting booster prices when the bandwidth is used up, but only when I have to. The house can be empty for months, and the bandwidth goes unused. At least there is the one month rollover and the 64k throttle. These are the iBurst pluses. But I'm very keen for some booster relief, even better would be a decent OOB rate so I don't have to use the throttled service at all. But the present R950 per gig is beyond ridiculous.

The OOB and booster pricing does seem to be on top of the forums wish-list.......

Lol... Wrong choice of words was used...:D

We want more bandwidth for less and higher throttling speeds SOON!

There, I fixed it...;)

LOL, what Madhawk said, higher throttling speeds than 64 Kbps. Typical CEO looking for loopholes in wording lol.

The only scenario so far that is acceptable to me is an opt-out. That, or I simply block iBurst websites from my network entirely.

5 by yesterday afternoon. (Last time I checked)

The count in my inbox alone is 11. This is emails to the helpdesk and does not take into consideration the complaints submitted via the website.

I wish iBurst counted our bandwidth like they counted our complaints.

And an opt-out of this browser hijacking business entirely, or else iBurst's website gets blocked on my network. And my friends's business network. They're paying me to prevent iBurst from annoying them when they are throttled.

Quite frankly, you should be happy that you're being throttled and not hard-capped. Always something to complain about isn't there. I say keep the reminder, probably add the click-through and that's that. There's always going to be five or ten people that will complain no matter what. In this case, they all seem to be here.

\end rant.

Quite frankly, you should query why you are getting hard-capped in the first place.

Please stop using "hijacking" like it's going out of style, they're NOT hijacking they're redirecting. Not arguing over whether it's nice or not....just Village hysteria FTL.

Also hope I'm not sounding harsh here but threatening to block their site from your network is like threatening a candy company that you'll start unwrapping all their sweets FROM THE WRONG SIDE just to spite them.

Might make you feel good but err.........it really reallllllly doesn't affect them one bit. (Or should I say byte? Ha....Ha........I'll umm....go away now)
