Next-gen Ford Everest range to include V6-powered Wildtrak X – report

A new report out of Australia claims the next-generation Ford Everest range will include an off-road-focused, V6-powered Wildtrak X variant.

According to CarExpert.com.au, the new Everest will be released towards the end of 2022, around the same time as the next-gen Ranger bakkie with which it shares its platform.

The report says the next Everest will again share its engine range with the aforementioned Ranger, which the publication claims will include the existing 157 kW/500 N.m bi-turbo 2,0-litre diesel unit; a 270 kW/680 N.m plug-in hybrid powertrain built around Ford's turbocharged 2,3-litre, four-cylinder petrol unit; and a 3,0-litre V6 turbodiesel generating 186 kW and 600 N.m.

That six-pot (which wears the "Power Stroke" badge and is already in service in the F-150 in North America) will be standard in the new Everest Wildtrak X derivative, according to the report. This 4x4-equipped variant is described as “Raptor-esque” and will reportedly feature Bilstein shock absorbers, BF Goodrich all-terrain rubber and chunky rock sliders. The Wildtrak X badge, of course, has already appeared on the current Ranger, both in Europe and Australia.

Ford Everest SUV handed the F-150 Raptor widebody treatment!

Ever wonder if your Ford Everest would look meaner with a front end inspired by the F-150 Raptor? Well, wonder no more.

Conceived by the folks over at TTN Hypersport, the same Bangkok-based company known for transforming the Ranger bakkie into an F-150 clone, the kit can be fitted to the current-generation Everest (so, models built from late-2015 onwards).

The package is dominated by that F-150-style front end, which includes oversized fenders, a new bonnet, a revised grille (complete with bold "Ford" lettering), new headlamps and a redesigned bumper. Wider rear fenders have also been added, along with a new rear bumper. The taillamps, however, appear to be unchanged.

Ford SA expands Everest line-up with fresh 2,0 SiT 4x4 variant

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa has expanded its seven-seater Everest range, officially launching a new XLT 4x4 derivative powered by the brand’s single-turbo 2,0-litre diesel engine.

Of course, we first noticed the arrival of this variant as long ago as April 2020, when it was listed for R659 400. The price has since increased, however, with the Everest 2,0 SiT XLT 10AT 4x4 now starting at R679 400.

As a reminder, the new derivative makes 132 kW and 420 N.m (the latter on offer between 1 750 and 2 500 r/min) from its four-cylinder, oil-burning heart. The Blue Oval firm’s 10-speed automatic transmission ships standard.

Could be this be Ford's seven-seater Thunder?

Ford is preparing a new derivative of its rugged Everest SUV.

The seven-seater SUV is set to launch a new Sport version toward the end of September. Everest is badged as the Endeavour in India and its marketing team is keen to rekindle interested in the SUV amidst all the movement in the segment.

Distinguishing this Sport from other Everests will be a new grille, in all likelihood a variation of the honeycomb design and seen on Ford’s new Ranger Thunder double-cab bakkie.

Most of the Everest Sport’s updates will mirror those seen on Ford’s Thunder bakkie, as the two vehicles are mechanical twins of each other – and share a fair amount of convergent surface components.

Ford has launched a sportier version of its rugged Everest SUV, which is called Endeavour, in India.

Distinguishing this Sport from other Everests is a new blacked-out grille with a honeycomb pattern which is a variation of what we have seen on Ford’s new Ranger Thunder double-cab bakkie which was recently introduced in South Africa. The grille is complemented with LED headlights with a smoked finish and the skid plate is also finished in black.

The Everest Sport somewhat mimicks the Ranger Thunder and also rides on black alloy wheels. The side steps and roof rails are in black too and Sport decals let onlookers know that this is a special Everest.

New Ford Everest to debut far earlier than first expected, says report

A fresh report out of the Philippines claims the next-generation Ford Everest will launch “around the same time” as the new Ranger, far earlier than initially expected.

According to AutoIndustriya.com sources “privy” to the Blue Oval brand’s launch timing, that means the new SUV will debut at some point in 2022, soon after the new Ranger breaks cover.

While the Everest is based on the Ranger’s platform, the reveals of the current-generation models were separated by as many as four years, with the T6 bakkie first being shown back in 2010 and the body-on-frame SUV being unveiled only in 2014.

Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa has quietly added two fresh derivatives to its Everest range, debuting the Sport moniker on the seven-seater SUV.

We should point out, however, the upgrades to these variants are largely cosmetic, despite what the badge may suggest.

Like the recently introduced FX4 versions of the Ranger bakkie, the locally built Everest Sport will be offered exclusively with the Blue Oval brand’s 2,0 SiT powertrain, with the choice of 4x2 and 4x4 configurations. As a reminder, the four-cylinder turbodiesel unit offers 132 kW and 420 N.m, delivered via a ten-speed automatic transmission.

The Everest 2,0 SiT XLT Sport 10AT 4x2 is priced from R662 800, while the Everest 2,0 SiT XLT Sport 10AT 4x4 starts at R704 400. Glance at standard XLT pricing and apply some basic arithmetic and you’ll see the Sport package thus effectively costs R25 000.

Of course, we’ve already brought you pricing for the newcomers (as long ago as mid-February) but now the Blue Oval brand has officially added the XLT-based models to its line-up.

As a reminder, like the recently introduced FX4 versions of the Ranger bakkie, the locally built Everest Sport is offered exclusively with the firm’s 2,0 SiT powertrain, with the choice of 4x2 and 4x4 configurations. The four-cylinder turbodiesel unit offers 132 kW and 420 N.m, delivered via a ten-speed automatic transmission.

So, what do you get for the extra outlay? Well, Ford says the Sport package lends the Everest a “more dynamic and athletic look”, and includes a black mesh grille, unique “Everest” bonnet badge, black side-mirror caps and black door handles.

Still find it stupid that the "Sport" model doesn't come with the Bi-turbo engine.

In other news, took my (standard 2.2) two year old for its 60k service. On a whim asked for a trade in valuation from the dealer and I was quite surprised, R335k before any negotiations.
 
Well if anyone is interested in how value holds up on an Everest.

I purchased my 2.2 TDCi XLT 2WD at the end of 2018 new with registration in Jan 2019 for R456k.
Just accepted an offer of R400k for it as is with 64,000km's on the clock and I get to drive it until my new one arrives in three weeks.
