New hate speech bill opened for public comment

Black people are all lazy dishonest thieves! The world is better off without them! Murder them all!!!!!!

That is inciting violence. If your speech convinces others to enact violence against people then you're inciting violence.

I think you're struggling with English here. Words can definitely incite violence. Whether or not you think that is a bad thing, or something that should be policed, is another matter but words can definitely incite violence.

prove that every people will come out and to start killing black people.
you shout that statement out and wait to see who will go to follow what you said.

don't be so sensational.

only the people like you for the past 20 years, always magnify this type of meaningless statements without limit, over and over again, oppress freedom of speech.

PS: not even a fly or a cockroach will be killed!!!!!!! NEVER!!!

I knew that already. you don't understand what I am trying to say.

the only "person" can incite violence that must be the person with "power".
for the normal "powerless" person, no one can have that "power" to influence other people to do anything.

as I said before, don't be so sensational.

can you control the media? can you control the army? how many people you are controlling?
understand?

QFT.

WTF happened to a thing called "freedom of speech"?!
Only when it's not inconvenient.

Freedom of speech isn't absolute. There are exceptions.

Just like the right to life isn't absolute. Someone can kill you in self defence for example.
Both are, or at least should be. You have an inalienable right to life, which is why the death penalty was abolished. If I have to kill you in self defense I am acting within my right and not against your right. Your right to life is neither absolute nor not absolute, it is simply irrelevant as mine takes precedence.

What is being said here with infringement is more in line with "you may say what you want unless it's offensive." That is not freedom of speech at all. You either have it or not and if you have it there can't be "infringement" of it by definition.

I wonder where these keyboard 'activists' for free speech were during apartheid when blacks were being persecuted, killed and jailed for speaking out against discrimination. It was a crime to even look baas in the eye - let alone speak ill of him - so please, I don't buy the delayed activism. Shove it - hypocrites!
Think before you speak. Some of us weren't even capable of understanding what the whole thing was about. I remember a time when we went on vacation and took the maid with. She had to stay in a room where all their maids were staying. When I asked why my mom simply said those are their rules. No it wasn't their rules it was the Nats. Another time she wanted to open an account at Edgars. When they didn't want to give it to her even though she qualified I was told that Jet was for them and Edgars for us. None of it made any sense to me.

Don't be so quick to show your ignorance in thinking that we all agreed with what was going on. But let's face it. The white racist government no longer exists so it won't make sense for us to continually speak up against it. The black racist government however does.

I can't help but notice how convenient it is to stop talking about the racist white government and only find our moral compass when we have a democratic government, it's really too convenient for my liking.

I agree that not all white people supported the NP and apartheid, but fact is we have white people who supported apartheid, we have white people who never supported apartheid but who weren't bothered enough to actively do anything about it, after all life was good, we have white people who were young at the time as you allude, and we have white people who actively fought the unjust regime alongside all the other people of SA who were oppressed.

The inescapable fact is that a majority of white people did vote for the NP, time and time again and some of them are the keyboard warriors that Zulu is talking about, they have found their moral compass after years of enjoying the cushy life, they are hypocrites and they are here on MyBb, they did not all die in 1994 they amongst us going all moral high ground here, we do find that rather odd.

and yet today not all people fight against this corrupt government we now have, they ride the gravy train, so what is your point?

i get your drift though, because you are speaking about white people, it is therefor worse. tribes finding their moral compass years after savagery is fine then? because they didnt know better you might say, did the sheep of the np government know better?

that previous government is long gone, we cannot change what happened then. we can change what happens now. get it?

the consequences of apartheid were boycotts and sanction, this causes the peoples mindset to be stuck in their little world thinking they are right, not knowing what the real world is all about.

you seem to think that BEE and AA is fair restitution or a consequence of apartheid, meanwhile it is recrimination, revenge. you contradict yourself when you say the child should not suffer the consequences of their parents.

you are supposed to lift the one up, not cut the other down. crabs in a bucket guy, always pulling the one down about to get out.

and btw, not many keyboards or internet to warrior around behind back then. silly arguement.

What is it that you think we could have done ?

Refused to do military service, refused to implement or recognize apartheid laws, refused
to vote or vote for a liberal opposition, public protests, withhold taxes, etc

This could only happen though because the majority of white people supported the then government and did their military service without complaint. If a majority refused to be conscripted that would have been the end of that. It was only because a small minority refused to serve that they could be prosecuted and jailed.
The majority of South Africans don't want the current President in office. What do you propose happens next?

Wow, I don't know why we didn't think of that.

Perhaps you should have been around at the time and you would have discovered that anyone who rebelled against the regime instantly became the enemy and you know what they did to the enemy.

My very white partner had a 'bomb' placed under her vehicle simply for supporting a black cause. On reporting it she was told 'you have been warned'.

It's so easy for those who only read about apartheid and didn't experience it, either by being non-white or by being a 'liberal' aka a commie.

:crylaugh:

you need a bit of perspective. to put it simple, corporal punishment and the death penalty was still around then.

in any case, what is the use of judging in hindsight, crying about what happened then is not going to change anything now.

and then become the pathetic , spineless , "slapgat", worthless, irresponsible , don't care , no repect for others , ill discpiplined youth that we have. I'd love to take some of thes troublesome kids and drill the shyte out of them. And no, not all of them are, but a lot.

Really? Because the majority voted the ANC into government in an election. What happens next is another election.

I was around actually. Maybe a bit young but my older brother refused to do military service. If the End Conscription Campaign had the support of the majority of white people it would have been far more effective. They couldn't jail all white people could they?

They were born in 1994, there is no one, absolutely no one here on MyBB who supported the NP and apartheid in the good old days, Those who were born before '94 have always been DP which later became DA, but you see the NP stole each and every election, no one really voted for them....

Well the last whites only general election was in 1989. You do the math...

Edit - remember you had to be 18 to vote...
