New Iburst package - iGo - R299

500 Mb should cost about R100.00 a month not R299.00

I agree with Clipse. THIS IS CRAP!!!

uh... then 3Gb should cost 399 a month, remember they have to charge for the actual connection fee, support, email and all the isp stuff

why isnt 3g 100 a month? this is the cheapest offer on the market, so ... yeah

If they introduced a 1.5 Gb package for about half the price of the current 3Gb package....that would be a good deal. 500Mb is one sixth of the 3Gb package for a little less than half the price. Sounds like a rip off to me.

well its to go head to head with 3g not to be a midway package, just for light users, perhaps they'll release a 1.5GB package but it'll be a waste of time because there is already a 1GB package.

This isnt for desktops at home, its for people who have some connection at work and home and need a little something in between.

just like australia iburst you now have 500MB, 1GB, 3GB, 6GB, 9GB and all let you buy more bandwidth so its flexible, theres something for everyone I think... except maybe a higher cap package (uncapped iburst would be sweet again)

they make profits of course.. why shouldnt they but its still cheaper than anything else so I dont see how its a rip off.

Why don't they let us decide what it's for? Prices overseas are way below what we pay. What will happen when video on demand becomes available. Will we be paying about R500.00 per movie? I am just comparing it to the situation overseas. We are paying so much for so little here.

you can to VOD now with what we have, just low bitrates (well you could stream a divx quality show/film right now with what we have)

i dont see what telkoms profits have to do with wbs, its a new package its inline with other places in the world in a similar situation (australia) so its not all that bad,

I really dont wanna piss on anyones parade, but 192k adsl + 2gig account can cost you around R420 and thats 1.5gig more than this iburst offering and a hell of alot more reliable.

The point im trying to make, this is a step backwards for consumers and more money into iburst pockets. Positive? I THINK NOT. If we can keep on blaming telkom for backward steps, why not do the same with iburst and this offering? As we have also done with Mywireless and their latest offering, which is so backwards that even caveman Ogg would not understand it.

Clipse you just need to add the cost of one of your NukeCap account to the adsl pricing if you are planning on using anything latency sensitive. At least with iburst, if you happen to be one of the lucky few that it works for, then it works.

Agreed - But my comparison had nothing to do with gamers, or should I say international gamers. ADSL is much better and more reliable than iburst on local gaming which 99.995682341% of SA gamers rely on heavily. There is only a few hands full of international gamers requiring stable latency and it comes at a cost.

By all means, if I could justfully say iburst = 100% stable at all times and reliable, then this would be great for wow players, except I can still not agree that R299 for 500MB is worthwhile.. Compare it to my unshaped vpn, that cost more and is cheaper bandwidth than my vpn from a much much bigger company than my own, ripoff :/

Another thing, I checked their package upgrade for extra gig is R229, for shaped and contented bandwidth thats damn expensive, im sure they get their bandwidth for ALOT cheaper than myself and there is also shaping on their bandwidth.. Doesnt justify the packages at all, would be awesome to have a valid and still profitable contenting package from iburst but this one just cant convince me as fair.

No not argueing with you R299 for 500MB is umm stupid. Just want a heads up for people thinking of changing that while the adsl pricing looks okay(for now whats in the future??), there are some problems.

BTW I can fully recommend Nukecap works a peach for skype and WoW.

Yep cant deny anything here, ADSL future things going around in forum does sound grim.. But if this happens, Telkom will "[insert god name here] as my witness" feel some wrath from alot of people.

Just a side note, 500MB package on Voda-3G = R350 p/month. Considering the coverage of 3G vs. Iburst and well the other "customer service" related stuff , is there a particular reason one would pick this deal?

Sure there's more speed [or so i believe], but with only 500MB you will probably just browse and read email .....
