New ID Books?

dunno if you meant in s.a., or in the UK, but my wife got stopped on monday, and was given a form to fill in, and take to the police station within 14 days to show her license and insurance etc.

so, no, in the UK it is not compulsary to carry driver's license with you at all times. In fact, besides my car keys I normally have f*all on me at any stage of the game, barring a few £££'s in my pocket.

and as we have no id cards or books here, guess you can be free to walk around. just be aware of the cameras following you...doo dee doo dee doo dee doo dee doooooooooo

Meant in SA, my brother got a R100 fine a while ago for not having his on him at the time.

I got Fined R1000 for not having my drivers license with me (I look abit underaged), well he thought I didn't have a license but allowed me to drive further
Luckly my friend told me to go to the Metro Police station where the public prosecutor looked @ my license and scapped my ticket (and my 2 traffic tickets were lowered :D , it's completely legal before I get accused of buying someone off ;) ).

Although some of my friends have also been stopped and they simply asked his name, surname and birthdate and confirmed he had a license...

Still trying to figure out the Police

How can criminal elements infiltrate the Green ID Book if they don't have crooked allies inside Home Affairs? Clean the house.

Home Affairs Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula says green ID books "must go as a matter of urgency" because they are "contaminated" by criminals.

Yea, we need a New Improved (TM) system... like with the driver's licences -- we got the card system because the old system was "broken" and the card system was better [1].

Now, even the fscking traffic department won't accept a driver's licence as ID.

So here I am wondering how life would be in SA if Home Affairs stopped recognising your ID as valid ID...

Koos

[1] Meanwhile we found out the card system really was better -- for lining Shaik's pockets...
