New Mazda 2

Just got back from a coast trip on my 2021 Mazda 2 1.5 Individual Auto. Such a pleasant car, enough power for the hills.
Handled beautifully on Michelin Primacy 4 195/55/16, absorbed the rough south coast roads without any issues.
Very quiet on the roads as well, they made big strides in improving NVH over the original 2014 model while reviewed poorly for road noise.

Good fuel consumption, averaged 5.8L/100km for the whole trip (cruise control on most highway stretches and aircon on most of the time at the coast).

Got the same on mine, except it's only present in park. As soon as I switch to drive or reverse, the rpm goes down. And then goes down even further when its warmer.

I kinda like it actually, the exhaust sounds nice and loud when it starts.
Yeah so I think when you put in Gear it sending the power to the Transmission and that's why it seems like the noise is better. Same here just wait the 2 minutes for it to get upto temp and then I go.

Loving my Mazda 2, actually want to start a new thread for installing a new LED Kit for the main headlights, as it look stupid with the fog light being LED but the main lights being halogen.

Do you know of any Mazda groups on mybroadband?

New 2022 Mazda 2 Hybrid goes on sale from £20,300

Mazda will sell Yaris-based 2 Hybrid alongside the existing petrol-powered 2 in the UK

Mazda is now taking orders for the new Toyota Yaris-based 2 Hybrid supermini, ahead of customer deliveries beginning in May.

It's available in a choice of three trims, like the Yaris - but with prices starting from £20,300 it is actually £520 cheaper than the car on which it is based. The pure-combustion Mazda 2 will continue to be sold for now, priced from £16,575.

The entry-level Pure car wears 15in steel wheels and contrasting black lower body cladding. Standard equipment includes rain-sensing windscreen wipers, LED rear lights, smartphone integration, a 7.0in touchscreen and radar cruise control.

Mid-rung Agile bumps the price up to £21,150, adding alloy wheels, a larger infotainment screen and a reversing camera, while the range-topping Select trim costs £23,610 and ticks every option box.

The 2 Hybrid the first production Mazda to arrive as part of a new electrified vehicle partnership between Toyota and Mazda. It will be built and supplied by Toyota but marketed exclusively as a Mazda model.

Mazda 2 Quietly Updated for 2023

The Mazda 2 has been given another update and will be hitting international showrooms in March 2023. Here’s a quick look at the changes and SA ETA.

The long-standing Mazda 2 has received a facelift, with the changes being mostly cosmetic inside and out. The changes come around three years since the first major update back in 2019/2020.

Depending on trim level, you can spot the updated Mazda 2 with its curiously-styled front end. Some would go as far to say that it’s almost like an electric car, with a closed-off grille. There are some contrasting wheels available as an option, new colour additions (Aero Grey, Airstream Blue) and owners can include a few customisation options.

Updated Mazda 2 for South Africa

In our comprehensive Cars for 2023 piece, Mazda Southern Africa confirmed that an updated 2 would be hitting showrooms in mid-2023, so you can expect some pricing and further specifications around that time. At the end of January 2023, the 2 range from Mazda started from R302 300.

That is one thing Mazda does right, they give their cars multiple face lifts, instead of making them "old" every 5 years by replacing it with a completely new version.

I like the revised interior and larger touchscreen. Not a fan of the weird coloured section of the front grill although maybe its better in darker colours. .

I like the revised GT model they're getting in Australia, looks quite nice. Hope we get it here.

It does look good, there is an elephant though.

Bigger screen 7" to 8" is good but it is still running the old system (MZD Connect) from 2014, it is properly basic for a '23 car. Yes AA & CP but still you will need to interact with car's system at times.

Mazda 2 gains design refresh and sporty specification for 2023

Priced from £17,750, the supermini receives new front grille, updated wing surrounds and sporty-looking option

The Mazda 2 supermini has been given a significant styling overhaul both inside and out, along with new paint colours.

Due on sale in late spring, the updated 2 features wireless Apple CarPlay, climate control and cruise control as standard.

Priced from £17,750, it significantly undercuts the £20,340 Peugeot 208 and £22,110 Toyota Yaris.

Standout changes include a new front grille that cuts into the headlights, updated wing surrounds and a lower, sportier bumper. Colour accent tabs now appear around the car, too.

The engine line-up remains the same as the existing car: 73bhp, 88bhp and 113bhp versions of a naturally aspirated 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine.

Mazda's e-Skyactiv-G mild-hybrid system features on cars specified with the six-speed manual gearbox but not on those with the six-speed automatic.
