thanks Techie :) i will give them a look.. do i need to have a dealership with pc international? or can any joe soap buy from them?

Yeah but they will still go up a lot more.
Mustek shot up their prices by 18% last week Monday, I think it was.

Yeah well from ~R7 to R11.... 57% increase, so we can expect something like that

You guys are the bomb! I been taking notes ... pity I only get home on the 13th Nov and the prices would have most likely skyrocketed by then. :(

Only saw this thread now :o

Yes, the 9800GTX+ is a lot better than the 8800GT :)

You do know that the 9800gt is just an 8800gt with a new sticker right?
And that the 9800gt+ is just a 55nm version of the 9800gt(8800gt) with slightly higher clocks right?

wow.. ok after looking at PC international, their prices are much better...

lets hope they stay the same till i order in monday :)

so i now have this...

Yes I do, in fact I commented on that in one of the threads. Though apprently you do get 55nm 9800GTs that aren't branded as 9800GT+.

Actually the Geforce 9800 GT is identical to the Geforce 8800 GT, it has the same specifications except HybridPower support on 9800 GT 55nm cards.

And that the 9800gt+ is just a 55nm version of the 9800gt(8800gt) with slightly higher clocks right?

I can't seem to find a 9800GT+ on any South African etailer's site. However, the 9800GT+ that I've seen on some of the Australian websites seem to have the exact same clockspeeds as the vanilla 9800GT. Maybe I'm missing something here.

You did notice that I said that the 9800GTX+ is better than the 8800GT, right?

No worries ;)

Are you planning on overclocking at all? If you aren't, then don't bother buying the expensive Corsair RAM, the Kingston should suffice :)

naa i dont think i will overclock... i have an xbox that i use for games atm. i am just after a decent pc that will last lol you would kill yourself laughing if i told you what i currently have!

a 5 year old 2ghz celeron donkey lol at the moment a cellphone seems to operate faster :P

What he said....

Oh, also Im almost sure you will get a standard CPU cooler with your CPU.
If you are planning to Overclock rather get an aftermarket one...

If you can push it a little further go for the Asus P5n-D mobo, its got the newer Nvidia 750i chipset. I bought mine 3days ago, and it was really close to what ur quoting for your p5Q.

Also, if im not mistaken That coolermaster chassis takes up to 8x120mm fans, and you only get 2 with. Maybe buy an extra 2, just to make extra sure everything runs super cool.

Ur basically gonna buy the same system that I got this week. NICE!

ah perfect... let i see that p5n-d mother board is only R200 more.. i'll go for that :)

i wasnt sure if you got a cpu cooler in the box thats why i added it.. but if you say it has one.. then perfect.. i'll definitely get 2 more of the 8x120mm fans :)

as for all the problems with the hard drives that everyone else has had.. i currently have a 500gb ide in a removable chassis and *touches wood* no problems.. so i think i will take a chance on the 500gb SATA...

:)

actually.. i see i had specced the P5Q-DLX not the p5Q... which would be a better mobo.. the P5Q-DLX or the P5N-D? sorry for all the questions.. i'm a programmer not a hardware expert lol

Thanks for all your help guys!

Any reason why you're going for the P5Q-Deluxe? Going to be running two graphics cards at some stage?

How about just the P5Q if you intend on having one graphics card at about R500 less?

Also don't forget to confirm prices with them... I'm wondering just how up to date they are.

ah good point... i never noticed that was the only difference.... the one thing that is leaning me toward the P5Q instead of the P5N-D is that the P5Q has 6 x SATA 2 where has the P5N-D has only 4? and well you never can have enough hard drives? ;)
