System speaker connected? Any beeps? If so, check here to see what they mean.

i've removed and reseated both ram modules... there's no beeps...

i did find this on the net.. you think it could have something to do with it?

The P5Q-E wouldn't POST on the first try. There was no beep, which usually means a memory problem, if everything else is working. The Crucial Ballistix Red Tracer has a LED display, and they were lit, so proper seating wasn't the issue.

I flashed the P5Q-E with the latest BIOS from Asus, version 0803. The previous BIOS, 0704, corrected some memory compatibility issues, so that probably was my problem. The system booted fine with the new BIOS.

lol which doesnt really help me now grr seeing as i dont have any other ram brands to try :(

well i just shot through to the office to grab some ram out of a machine there.. as luck would have it.. kington as well... same story.. fans spin.. hard drive spins... graphics card's light comes on.. but nothing... so i think i am giving up lol

does anyone know if pc international is open on sundays? if so i think i am taking it back for them to check out.... unless anyone has any other ideas? :(

Do the fans/lights stay on constantly? Could be a bad PSU...

Can you not find any info on which types of RAM are problematic on the mobo?

yea everything stays running.. you even get hdd activity on the light on the front of the box... just no beep on boot.. and the screen remains blank... lol i even removed everything and reconnected it!

i havent managed to find a list of problematic ram on the net :(

definitely a downer after the big purchase grr

I don't think they're open on Sundays, no.

See if you can get hold of a different brand of RAM to test with.

i went through to work yesterday and "borrowed" some out of some of my machines there.. still nothing :(

well just to be doubly sure... i removed everything now and reseated it... still nothing.. so either its a mem compatibility problem.. or something is DOA

yea i am going to :) its all packed in the box waiting at the front door lol at the moment.. the most expensive doorstop :D
