Yes get the 4870 or at least the 4850 instead of the 8800. They are much better. Get one of the new Intel CPUs instead, such as the E8300 (someone else advise re the CPU, as I'm not so clued up).

is the radeon better than the 8800GT?

Sure is.

See comparisons here.

And if you're gaming it'd be better to go for the E8400 - see discussion here. Many other threads on the issue, basically most games/apps don't yet utilise all four cores so it's better to go for two cores running at a higher MHz.

I would rather go with
Corsair DDR2-800 4GB (2x2GB) XMS2 DHX CL5 Memory Module Kit.

I see they don't have OCZ Ram but that is the two manufactures u have to look at.

I would stick with the quad core as games are coming out that make better use of the extra cores and larger cache (Eg: far cry 2) and i think this is going to be a growing trend

wow.. thanks for all the ideas! I think i am going to stick with the quad core tho... i am not THAT much of a gamer.. but would still like the option if i want to.. but at the same time i want the pc to last me for a few years..

so the 9800GTX+ is better than the 8800GT? :)

Yes, the 9800GTX+ is a lot better than the 8800GT :)

Quad is still not really usable when it comes to games. Not even with Far Cry.

Oh... the Q6600 costs ~R2400 now. Not R2131 anymore...
