New MTN 1c Per Second price plan

We will have to Wait for Telkom Mobile and VodaCom to respond now......................

How about 0.0075c per Second = 45c per Minute will do fine for us all.

Come on guys you can do it.

Remember what South Africans did to MTN it can happen to you.

:)

Don't care - still annoyed at MTN. When I needed them they weren't there (repeatedly).

Yes hello Mr Important Business Person. How are you? *Call drops*

MTN can stick it somewhere regardless of price.

Tested the USSD code, seems to work even though the plan isn't listed in the *141*4# menu. It would seem as though this is going to be an interesting year.

Not interested but I would like to see what happens on 30 September. :D

It will become permanent subject to ICASA approval.

Nice things, available on Topup contracts too.
Edit: Forgotten... thanks Cell C.

Did they just lower the existing PayAsYouGo price from 79c/minute to 60c/minute?

Or did they introduce a new plan to which users have to switch first?

Edit:

It seems they introduced a new price plan.

MTN Pay per Second - 79c/minute
MTN 1c per Second - 60c/minute

Basically, the majority of the customers probably won't know about the new price plan, and won't be able to take advantage of it.

Now is really a good time to be a be on prepaid with Cell C or MTN. Now if only Afrihost will provide data to prepaid MTN customers. I'll be completely satisfied then.

Ditto.
MTN lost me 6 years ago.
And this is not for loyal contract customers.

I just want somebody to give me 100 minutes and sms and 1 gig of data for 150 on a month to month contract and I will be happy

Woohoo! Prepaid is just awesome!
At 60c per minute this means that anybody on MTN Zone would need a discount better than 75% to get a better call rate. And this rarely happens in peak time.

I am gobsmacked, MTN with a simple, transparent pricing scheme? what's the catch...

But more seriously I hope this is an indication that MTN is changing their ways and listening to their customers/potential customers.

What I would like to know about this is
1) What the data rates are
2) International call costs
3) Will this pricing be taken over to contract (so you can use Afrihost for data)

Side note on Afrihost, now that they are controlled by MTN are there any potential changes that could occur to existing deals?

It happens more often than you think now. Now you should atleast see a very hight discount every 30min in every hour. The first 15min and the last 15min of every hour. Pretty cool but yeah the flat rate is better
