Good ol’ MTN.
I spent the last 2 months logging on every day to the forum, hoping against hope that MTN would pull something out of the hat to prove that I made the right choice 7 or whatever years ago. I sent the occasional snide swipe in the vain hope of provoking some response – a bit like poking a stick in the swamp.
A week ago I engaged on a work project that was 24 hour work&sleep. Imagine my delight when I surfaced and logged on again for the first time in 8 days – a whole new thread of 60+ postings and WOW our very own vodacom3g in the person of MTNBroadband
OK Mr MTN. So you have rescued me from the evil clutches of Yebo – by a smallhair you better believe, and only because I am an existing MTN client – changing my cellphone number would be extremely painful. Now what? I am ready and willing to give you my body, soul and broadband account, but are you worthy – I fear not.
I visited the local branch of AutoPage who is my subwhatever. The guy had just received a ra-ra about Blackberry, and he decided that’s what I wanted and needed, never mind the Edge-smedge that I was on about.
Next, a phone call to my ‘upgrade centre’ – you don’t want to know!
So Mr MTNBroadband, I’m afraid you will have to provide the answers:
Which phones/cards are Edge compliant? The magazines/brochures are big on how many pixels the camera has, but nothing on Edge/GPRS+. Do you have any of these phones/cards as part of an upgrade package? If not, how much do they cost?
Do you have an Edge equivalent of the Vodacom 3G card? How much?
Do you replace my ISP and provide email account/s and internet gateway ala MyWireless and IBurst, or do I still need to pay an independent ISP? Is this the same as Vodacom?
