Anyone notice the Openweb Uncapped special. it seems reasonable. However befor signing up I'd like to know a few things.
  • Will I still have to pay the full amount if I signup now?
  • Is the price per month only for November or will it continue throught next year?
  • I currently have a 4mb line, will the 1024k account only work at 1024k or will I be able to exceed this?
  • I'll be using it for video streaming, cctv, webcam, online gaming etc. is 1024k sufficent?
Please advise if I should take this account or two 10GB accounts.
Thanks

I haven't tried OpenWeb - or the 1024kbps uncapped express offering, but in my opinion, two 10GB accounts (using IS Fibre Semi-shaped) on your 4Mbps line will offer you a far superior experience (quality vs. quantity). I used to have a 384kbps uncapped express account, and it was okay - I could do 60GB/month, but latency was pretty bad and speeds were not fantastic. I've since upgraded my line to 4Mbps and started using IS Fibre accounts, and the difference is astounding (but I obviously cannot do 60GB/month now!)

Some answers to your questions (based on my experience and educated guessing ;)): Yes, you will pay the full amount for the month if you sign up now. I think at times you will be able to exceed the 1024kbps speed limit but that is not something you should count on. For your usage, I would recommend something with lower latency (particularly if you are going to be gaming); Uncapped express accounts use satellite based international access which is far less responsive (latency-wise) than fibre based accounts (although if you will be keeping to local servers, my understanding is that local access is fibre based).

Its Fibre Express accounts, Axxess DSL will launch this very soon!

fz1: Thanks for the info but, latency is not a real problem, I do play online but its very little. The video streaming can tolerate a bit of latency. However it’s the schlep of having to disconnect it every so often, so that I don't use up the entire cap. On weekends it runs almost 3-5 hours straight, this sometimes uses up more than a gig an hour. I'd like to have it run without interruptions. Furthermore I'll need to use it simultaneously with other devices. So the main thing here is the speed and data usage.
