New orders - how long will I wait?

I ordered a new ADSL line from Telkom on Saturday 27 Feb 2010, I went to a Telkom Direct store to do the order so that the order gets captured......4 days later and I haven't heard anything from them. So I phoned to hear what's happening and they say waiting period is 21 to 30 days? :twisted:
 
I thought it would have been a bit better/quicker than that...and judging from the complaints around here I'm not sure if Neotel is a viable alternative?

the technician rocked up 3 days after i placed my order
 
without contacting you first to make sure you were home?
 
Telkom have definitely improved. When ADSL first launched, I had to wait 3 months for installation.

The other day when I ordered, I only waited 1 week. Big up Telkom!!
 
Took me exactly 4 days to get an install date. Unfortunately because of overlapping exchange areas and a building that were demolished 7Years ago, there are a technical error in the address given for the installation and as such there is an issue with the correct installation address v connections box. Thus the tech send it back with a "modified" address and then there was a technical error in allocating the job to another technician. How sad! Now three weeks later we have a new install date. That was today, I only found out now on following up, but alas nobody called and made arrangements today. So we hold thumbs for some time soon if ever!

Neotel is starting to look quiet attractive ATM.
 
Applied on the 25th January for voice line at telkom store - took two weeks to install that, then applied for adsl line 384 and was installed and running on 2 March.
they could not find available ports at first but finally with help I came right.
SAOL uncapped now running at 38 from rapidshare :)
So it takes a while and don't expect telkom to contact you - you have to hound them to find out what's going on.
 
7days! that's 7working days! No lies! I was just very persistent that it be done soon, as i was gong out of the country! :-P
 
okay, it's 2 weeks later (well, almost, will be tomorrow) and I haven't heard ANYTHING from Telkom. Who can I phone? My work doesn't allow me to phone the 10215 numbers...
 
Cant u go back to the shop to ask them to follow up? Best bet is to call them with your reference number.

my phone line was dsl enabled with in 3 days of me calling telkom... so maybe the shop didnt process your order???
 
I still haven't heard anything from Telkom, so I phoned them today, so they tell me my suburb is not supported by Telkom because of high cable theft.
 
So i ordered Neotel on Tuesday 16 March and on Thursday 18 March I was able to fetch the equipment at the Postnet store where I placed the order. Will set up after work...
 
ordered adsl line today really hope telkom come out soon
 
I've been waiting 3 and a half weeks now. The DSLAM is less than half a kilometer from my house, maybe I should go there and activate it myself. :mad:
