Looking at building the following pc. So far evetech has the best prices.
Budget is MAX R13000

Intel I5 7600k 4.2GHz R3700

MSI B250M PRO-VDH Intel Motherboard R1500

Antec VP700P 700W 80+ Silent Power Supply R950

[RED] Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 4GB 2400MHz DDR4 Memory X 2 R1100

GPU Im still torn between:
MSI GeForce GTX 1060 3GB GAMING X R4000

vs

MSI GeForce GTX 1060 ARMOR OVERCLOCKED Edition 6GB

Its a R700 Diffrence between the two.

Any changes you guys would make? I want the motherboard with 4 slots so I can just buy 2 x 4GB at a later stage.

With regards to graphics cards, take the 6GB.

Have you checked prices on www.wootware.co.za and www.rebeltech.co.za ?

Any advice on maybe switching to AMD Radeon RX 470 8GB?
The 470 is way below the 1060 6GB with regards to performance. Of the two 1060's, get the 6GB.

Another observation: you've taken the 7600K, but your mobo doesn't support overclocking. Drop the "K" and save some cash. Also, your PSU is overkill for your system: you'll only need between 550 and 650W (max) for what you want to run. The additional cash could go towards a better quality PSU.

The RX 480 is the GTX 1060 competitor, R4k 8GB model, R3.3k 4GB model.

The GTX 1060 6GB for R4k as well.

My personal preference is the RX 480, but it's really up to you here. Most gameworks titles will work better on the GTX 1060, Vulcan titles will probably run better on the RX 480.
At 1080p it doesn't really matter, I just think the RX 480 will be better for future games while the GTX 1060 is generally better at current AAA titles.

Rather get the RX480 4GB, if you're on a budget. More RAM than the 1060 3GB, faster too while being R700 cheaper.

Remember Star Citizen went Vulkan too.

Is the Zotac not poorer quality? I can get it for R400 cheaper.
Not sure about SA, but Zotac cards have the longest warranty out of all card manufacturers here in the UK (up to 5 years). And they actually make really good quality products.

Zotac Gforce GTX 1060 6GB
R4200

MSI Gforce GTX 1060 6GB
R4700

That buys you extra RAM!

I'd take the RX 480 over the 1060...it's already a better card than the 1060 a few months after being released and will probably only get better as Nvidia stops optimising the 1060 (as is their practice).

And a 4Gb frame buffer is plenty for 1080p. These cards will run into compute limitations at higher resolutions or ultra quality settings long before frame buffer becomes an issue.

Why is it a better card in your opinion? Are you referring to the price?

Performance...with the later driver releases, it's recouped a lot or all of the performance it gave up in DX11 and stretched its lead in DX12 \ Vulkan. It's still very close, of course but I would expect that gap to continue to trend for at least the next couple of driver releases.

There are a few games where 4gb could be an issue but they are a small minority.
