NEW PC.....

Dump the Intel branded boards, there are better boards at similar prices.

But do stick with Intel Chipsets on other branded boards

P35 is a decent chip, but its getting old. The P43 is the best budget chip right now, or a P45 if you are looking for a board with dual graphics slots.

An ASUS P5QL-E would set you back about R1400. Also the quad core would be of benefit for your Architectural work, but check if your software is quad core enabled first and not just dual core. If it only supports dual core, you are better off getting a E8500 dual 3Ghz CPU with 4GB's of ram

I would get a Corsair VX450 (R900) to power it all, its a good solid midrange PSU with a 5 year warranty. if you are looking for something cheaper, you can get a Antec Neo HE 380W or a Corsair CX400 (R700-800) that have both got 3 year warranties.

wow...
good arguments guys...
thanks...

the thing is, my pc bombed out and i need one NOW...

one more question...

How is the leadtek 9800gt g/c???

Any good.... I'm getting it for R1880

9800GT is good value at R1880. Good midrange gaming card. Performance is about the same as the legendary 8800GT, but power usage is down.

If you are looking for a cheaper alternative, you can pick up a ATI 4670 512mb for about R1200 right now, that is only about 20% slower. Still fast enough to play any of the popular games on high and Crysis on medium.

thanks sapphiron...

you've been a lot of help!!!

what about the 4850 card?

what about the 4850 card?

4850 is best with regards to performance for rand spent. Even better than the 8800gt. Another card to keep in mind is the oc version of the 3870. Prophecy have it for around 1400. Standard version at around 1200. 4670 is actually a grand...

HD4850 is quite a beast for it's price. Beats the 9800GT hands down and really performs better than I expected it to. Go for it if you're willing to spend like R500 extra. :)

I never see a gaming person using intel motherboard, i dont understand why u r choosing MB bt foxconn and intel? gigabyte, asus, MSI r good . psu should more than 500w, remember it must come with pci output, that 6pin one for the pci-e graphics card. if need nice case, prefer coolmaster.foxconn is second class manufac.

How long do you guys think it will be until the prices drop due to the release of the i7 chip?

will it be better to wait a month or so?

Intel P43 Topsfield Main Board

can get it for R1300...

Good board, P43 chipset but again you wont be able to overclock..
Consider a MSI P43

Exactly, I don't see the problem.. and there are even more boards to choose from.
