New products from Sentech

I agree that it's great to get people moving from dialup to broadband BUT when you are giving the user only 150MB on 1mbit connection, the user will eat up his/her allowance in next to no time at all. Nevertheless it's certainly a step in the right direction. Cheap broadband albeit with some small print is certainly here. And it's WIRELESS!

Their new pricing makes them the cheapest operator among the well known broadband providers MTN, Telkom, Vodacom and iBurst, and they are now far better positioned to increase their subscriber numbers than they were last year.

It looks very nice on the 10GB+ end. I can't say below 1GB they are 'significantly' different from the rest [significantly in the sense that i would not move to them from a 'stable' company like Vodacom/MTN....] . You have to consider the issue of new modem and low coverage at a 'similar' price than giants such as Vodacom/MTN/Cell-C/Virgin who all use the same tech [same modem thus] and got coverage virtually everwhere....

How are the old classic customers going to be affected by the new prices? Lets hope they are going to upgrade our service by speedng it up.

They will honor the classic contracts, and I think your speed will go up as well.

I'm still at work. Has anyone been able to test if the Classic customers have recieved a speed boost?

Hi

Never before have the terms "Broadband" "Internet" "Service" "Provider" been so loosely and generously applied.

Sentech's coverage is patchy
Their support staff have a highly variable skill level
Their support process has 2 support levels, and the level you talk to have limited ability to directly diagnose and repair problems.
The connection is usually slow, and often broken.

I saved the best for last :-)

If you phone the help desk and ask to be put through to Customer Complaints, they tell you that they are not allowed to put you through and they are not allowed to give you the phone number!!!!!

Can't wait to ditch them.

Brendon

It's almost like Telkom or worse. ;)

no, speed has not changed yet,......in fact it is crawling along at a snail's pace at present.

Sentech is wasting their time, given their reputation for treating their customers like dirt I know there will be many who wont touch them with somebody else's 10 ft barge pole. Those few of us on classic packages are a just a blot on their screen and once we are gone they will have even more ex customers. They seem to build up an ex custimer base rather than anew customer base. And as for their buddies nowire... the less said there the better. 8 months to go

Yep, tried Gamco, iBurst and Sentech speed tests and all say the same - my speed is around 115kbits/s. Yeah, that's local - lets not even talk about the international speed tests.

It would be most welcome if they increase speeds for Classic subscribers but I am not holding my breath since they want to (and in most cases have already) forced Classic subscribers onto Flexi.

Come on Sentech, if you want to give me incentive to stay with you, increase my speed!

RPM are you sure about the Classic accounts. Your article even said the upgrades were only for the Flexi accounts.

On the Sentech forum it looked like all the Flexi accounts were upgraded and none of the Classic ones affected.
