New PSU needed (got R1600)

Ok, so I was playing HoN last night when I suddenly heard a loud BANG! :eek:
It sounded like a gunshot and PC suddenly went off

So i'm guessing it's my PSU - the pc is completely dead

Will you be able to believe it was a Corsair HX1000W? :mad: a R2500 PSU just decides to 'pop' :mad:

I'll see if I can still return it, but i'm guessing it can take weeks - what PSU do you guys recommend for about R1600?

I got a Q6600, 4 x Sata HDDs, 1 x DVD RW, and a ATI HD4870X2
 
Dam, I would recommend another corsair.

But I am truly suprised... they have a 5 year warentee
 
Buy a 2ndhand good quality one from prophecy forums - there was a 1200w on there the other day iirc. Then when yours comes back from warranty just sell it back.
 
Gat a Pc power and cooling 750W quad silencer psu. Retail for about R1500 :D

like I said, i'm still checking with another forumite who helped me get it through frontosa - but I need one soon (saturday) because I won't be able to sit without a PC for 2 weeks or more :D

I hope my HX1000W doesn't start acting up :o

It's a brilliant PSU so if you can get it exchanged (I'm assuming you are still within your warranty period) that's what I'd recommend.
 
So what can I get for R1600 that will handle my 4 Hard Drives and 4870x2 ?

lets just say after 4 weeks they tell me a story like vodacoms "water damage" excuse or something - then I have to live with the new PSU - so not secondhand please. (just thinking worst case)

all I got so far is:
Pc power and cooling 750W quad silencer psu (+-R1500)

As said, 5yr warranty. Just take it back to Frontosa, the PSU should have a bar code that they can scan without the need for invoices.

P.S. 1000watt PSU for your rig? :eek: You powering your neighbourhood too? :D

well I initially wanted to run two 4870X2's in Quadfire, but figured out after the installation that I don't really need 4 GPU's :D

As I said, working on the warranty - but need a new one for now :confused:

No unfortunately its not modular. But it has 5yr warranty as well. Google for a review or two. Should be more then enough for your system :)

well they won't just SWAP it will they? they probably need to check if I didn't spill on it/mod it/open it/fix it/break it or something?

I just heard frontosa is closed on saturdays, so hopefully i'll be there on friday to see what they say... but I just can't be with a PC for two weeks man - i'd die of boredom :eek:
