Awesome..got the same one about two weeks back from them.

Didn't see this posted here yet, Looks like Wootware is planning some Wootvision mini-LED monitors.
No pricing yet but they have 3 preliminary listings up for their Wootvision Pro monitors, 2 mini-led and 1 QD-OLED.

if the pricing is affordable I am definitely interested in upgrading to a mini-led, OLED is just way out of my budget.

Intel is cooking with their latest generation:

These optimisations were predicted by Hardware Unboxed to happen. Regardless, they will be challenged by the day 1 reviews, and it is still a hot processor. This is not a Windows patch, and these results are contained to Cyberpunk 2077.

I am curious where else Arrow Lake is coming up short. Still, good to see, alternatives are always welcome.

Note: Intel is also preparing a patch that will be released sometime this month.

Considering the massive jump in compute benchmarks (over last gen), I think arrow lake is hiding some of its true potential in games as well. Not that I play games, but its interesting to see.

Well, Battlemage is here - and locally priced at an acceptable point.

If it could be made available for ~R5,499 it would do well in the local market.
Closest competition is the 4060 and 7600XT, which has the gigabyte tax on it.

Is mini-LED way better than IPS for gaming and media consumption?

Mini-led refers to the backlight system, the panel is still an IPS panel, it's way better than a normal LED IPS monitor.

Awesome for HDR content consumption and gaming.
That mini-LED monitor can do actual true HDR 1000.
Unlike all the fake HDR branding gets slapped on every other monitor these days, "HDR 400".

This is only news now?

Noise is a massive pet peeve I have with RT. In some games it is more noticeable than others, but that grain tends to annoy me.

Good day.

I was told to ask this question here. Sorry if in wrong place.

The context is I am using a 3060 gaming laptop which recently has had charging issues even after buying a new charger. I use this primarily for online online pvp games and none of these are testing my 3060 laptop so these are not very demanding games. (Example World of Warcraft)

Solution 1 is to buy a new gaming laptop. My laptops have all lasted at least 3 years. Based on research I can't seem to find a 4060 laptop I trust. Also not sure I need this when I have a portable gaming console. But would consider recommendations if any as probably simpler for me than figuring out a pc to buy.

Solution 2 is probably more relevant here and that is to buy a gaming pc. This is really just to do casual PVP and every day tasks like admin, work, etc. Anyone got some recommended pre-built PC at Computer Mania, etc or some Wootware PC builder configuration that would work?

Budget is ideally not more than R20k as this will not be my main gaming device (console gamer) but if I can go even lower than that, then awesome too. I saw a 4060 pre-built PC for less than R17K too but not sure on that one in terms of any compromises that would bypass my terrible understanding of PC components. Main things I am looking for are avoiding bad components such as power supply, etc which is confusing my endlessly.

Best is to try to learn/spec a pc yourself so can eventually troubleshoot yourself too... and then drop it here/other forums for advice etc. Only way to properly learn is through mistakes and research, not just copy/paste someone else' build.

A starting point would be to use wootware's pc builder, then drop the spec back here/carbonite for advice on what should be replaced etc.

My 14yo had just decided he'd like to buy himself a monitor for Christmas... So I'm looking for a bit of guidance as I'm a bit out of touch with things...

He's running the following:
AMD Ryzon 5600
32GB RAM
Radeon RX6600XT graphics

He plays the regular stuff (Fortnight etc)

Budget? Cause 1440p should be okay on that spec.

Kids playing Fortnite only want to brag about their FPS. They don't care about how it looks. Most of them play Fortnite on performance mode with shyte graphics.
So a 1080p monitor with the highest HZ, 120 - 244hz?
You not going to get high fps with a 6600xt on 1440p or 4k monitor
