New The PC Build Thread

Funny times.

Several AMD partners are making the switch to Samsung GDDR6. This is said to be due to reported thermal issues. Then very recently, SK Hynix said to have achieved GDDR7 speeds equivalent to Samsung's. Now we have rumours that the upcoming RTX 50 Super series will come with more vRAM. Coincidence? I think, not.

I won't be surprised to see the Super series ship in larger quantities. It might be a long while though... For those who will have any savings to spare.

Which model? I’m using the Meshify C. The front fans literally act as PCIe support brace
The Gigabyte 9070 gaming OC. It's big and it needs my little gpu support :)

In theory, these Intel GPUs should be good, well, value pending.

Intel confirms Discrete Xe3 “Celestial” GPUs are in pre-validation

The article doesn't say much about its specs, but there are speculative rumours going way back and Celestial was allegedly scratched. It is obvious that Intel wants to compete in the AI game.

This said, Intel does have big GPUs, but it is enterprise class and custom. They do have high-end GPUs, though it is not 'gaming' GPUs. There is potential here to aim at the 5070/9070 at their high-end. Intel's drivers are still begging to be improved.

Time will tell. All I know is, vendors are having war over memory allocation.

Okay so my son put in his old parts into the Antec AX85, it's not as nicely built as the phantek, but not to bad. I didn't see a pwm connector on the fans, but it was all daisy chained together.
The glass panel isn't as nice as the phantek either, makes it feel a bit more dangerous to take off.
Otherwise for a budget case it's not to bad, a few sharp parts.

So, it seems that Intel's new CEO is cooking, though this couldn't have been started by him. Now, with Xe3 in pre-validation, it is said that Xe4 is already in the making. Could Intel compete at parity in the high-end???

Back in 2019 IIRC, Intel introduced new architectural tech that would complement EMIB and Fovoros. Intel at this time introduced Co-EMIB to stitch multiple 3D die stacks together, including cache. What is that, 3D V-Cache?

Kaby Lake-G was Intel's EMIB partnership with AMD. IIRC, that was 2017? This is where Intel took chiplets to market. Then things happened, and product postponements led to product cancellations. Fab issues were said to be at blame.

Now, Intel already have their lacklustre Intel Core Ultra that has a disaggregated architecture in which its components are tiles (or /cough chiplets).

Intel’s Nova Lake “X3D-Like” CPUs Are Now Very Much a Possibility; Could Potentially Feature the 18A-PT Process With Foveros Direct 3D Packaging

The PC consumer market has been demanding an "AMD's X3D" like implementation from Intel, and it could very well be possible with Intel's Nova Lake desktop CPU lineup.

Intel Has Shown The Ability To Manufacture AMD's "X3D-Like" CPUs With The Recent Foundry Announcement; Execution Remains a Mystery

It won't be wrong to say that Intel isn't having a great time in the desktop CPU segment, given that the firm has been unable to pitch its recent lineups, such as the Arrow Lake CPUs, to customers. Not only do the Core Ultra 200S CPUs come with "disappointing" performance, but competition from AMD has ultimately forced Intel fans to switch to counterparts, and this is why the business has been sluggish. However, with Nova Lake, things could take a drastic turn, as announcements at the recent Intel Direct Connect 2025 point towards Intel's "X3D" implementation soon.

So, no, they aren't copying AMD. They are, however, late. It is also unknown whether they will have stacked cache.

All in all, it would be great to see Intel competitive again, but they need to provide value. This new process could also, and possibly will spell a whole new socket... /Ugh.

It's all about the price.

Hi,

Foster Son is building a System for himself with his savings, this one is a little over budget but can do.

Can he make improvements without increasing cost, or can he shave a little of of those costs?

Proposed system

You don't need such a massive power supply, also case changed, ssd changed in order to get a 5060ti 16GB which should be far better than a 12GB 3060
Same price with minor changes, yes you'll need to just cable manage that power supply better.

He is not a fan of glass and RGB lights, was why he chose that particular case, but the choice is his to make.
Cool the case will increase the price a bit, but the 5060 16GB would be a better choice than the 2 generation old GPU and for only 2k more.

Keep the Scythe.
You're going to pay R600 more for 6 degrees difference on a 200w system? Plus that was the 1 fan model

If you want to change it
This offers better performance on the Fuma 3.

Well I would save on the case, as they are cheaper to replace than a CPU, or Graphics Card. But am at work so will chat with the Kid later.

On the AX85, you just hold the LED light down

AX85 currently out of stock :(

Any other good cases with good air flow ... , if need be, I will chip in a bit for the Kid.

Will probably order the weekend.
Give him time to change his mind, but I think he is settling on this build.
