New The PC Build Thread

I ran a Prime95 mem-test the entire night just to make sure, and all is well. Hopefully the stupid couriers come fetch the faulty kit today, as they were a no show yesterday. Also kinda chuffed I am getting 4.5k in refunds now from Woot and Rebeltech lol. It will be going toward saving for a new monitor. My ancient 32 inch Mecer 144Hz 1440p has a vertical green line running down it. Luckily very close to the side so not too bad, but I would like to get a new one.

Headset is also showing it's age now. Hyper X Cloud Wireless. I love them but they are now like 10 years old as well.
Honestly don't replace the headset with a "gaming" headset, get a decent pair of normal headphones and a usb mic if you want a mic.

The Hyper X headset is brilliant imo. I had the wired set before that. They are easily the most comfortable headset for me, and have none of that gimmicky 5.1 or virtual 7.1 nonsense. The biggest issue with them is where the hell to find them, and no bluetooth.

You got any recommendations? AKG perhaps?

You should give a wootvision a go. Got a 24 inch monitor last month, nothing to complain about.

Depends on the AKG, just make sure if you get the studio ones that you're prepared for a more neutral sound. These used to go for like R900 a pair, now they are R900 for one, but reviews have been great on them especially for the price.

Yeah :-( mine was getting parts for 3 other machines at the same time so did go overboard a bit.
Yeah and then I get screwed with the PSU dying on me. 1,5k wee and then getting the backup system up and running another 3.5k wee. Next week it is 2.7k for the hdd's and then the case.

My bday is next week, lol if anyone asks what I want, will direct them to that huntkey case....

I am a professional Audio engineer by trade, and use a set of 130k Genelec 8380 Speakers in my studio so I have a pretty good ear for sound I like to think. No chance I will skimp on good headphones. I will test a couple at Marshall Music later I reckon.

Well then you know that studio headphones are more neutral :-), but once you get used to the sound the overly bassy ones can be overpowering.

There is a big rumour now that the RTX 50 SUPER series is cancelled due to rising DRAM prices and shortages. Yeah, I don't think that is the case. Nvidia secured an allocation months ago. Yes, product development can move around, and the pricing will impact retail. The series isn't cancelled.

What could happen is the SUPER series being limited, as both Nvidia and AMD are already on their next-generation trend. The new series GPUs could come sooner than anticipated. It all depends. There is an odd chance that Nvidia will do a paper launch, as they are known to do. They could also announce it at GDC 2026, supply will then likely not be limited. The latter's timing could potentially be at a time when the DRAM situation has turned around. That would be 5-6 months to go, so it's not unrealistic.

Well intel already cancelled their higher end GPU's. AMD and intel, have switched over to meet demand for AI and server clients, would be dumb not to cash in on that aspect. Also limited spare wafer capacity, it is pretty much at max. TSMC 2nm is fully booked for the next year, on other nodes lead time is estimated to be between 4-6 months. nvidia is desperate enough to get in bed with intel to manufacture their x86 ai chips next year. Honestly I wouldn't put it past nvidia to cancel lineups or delay releases.

I am sure whistle blowers will come along soon enough and give the inside scoop.

Unlike 2020 shortages it impacting more than just CPU's it is pretty everything semiconductor related including dram.

It is rumored that Intel cancelled some current-gen higher-end products; this is likely the case. I don't think that Celestial is cancelled. MLID thinks that he is a silicon prophet, but Chinese discussion boards have long dabbled in whats and whatnots. Some people are very much involved in the supply chain, and word gets around there quickly, but companies have also started to double down on what can be disclosed (or having your head served warm).

The RTX 50 SUPER series isn't cancelled. Nvidia's own reported numbers have dispelled many rumours; they are still selling, and selling well, to general consumers. For them to put AI into home computers would mean that vRAM increases would be necessitated. It is unknown where Nvidia is with Rubin in concern to consumer GPUs, but a possible announcement could be in early 2026. An RTX 50 SUPER series will be a stopgap, but I don't expect RTX 60 until sometime Q4 2026 at the earliest.

I am convinced that Nvidia's deal with Intel was set up by the US government. I wouldn't call it desperate, but rather strategic. It will allow both Intel and Nvidia to leverage their technologies within the USA (and Mexico). Fab utilization... Nvidia is well allotted at this time being.

Anyhow, my post was about Nvidia not canceling RTX 50 or at least in my opinion. Those who started the rumours, like Intel cancelling their upcoming GPUs, are all with very strong AMD bias.

Just merely pointing out things are bleak, it wouldn't surprise me to see delays or limited releases and/or cancellation, waar daar n rokie is is daar n' vuurtjie. Not all rumors are true but given the state, a couple might be. Will have to wait and see if there is any OEM leaks.

From my own speculation. I do expect RDNA 5/UDNA to be announced way sooner, with its launch almost imminent upon that announcement. Perhaps Q2/3 2026. I dunno, and nobody is saying a thing. Usually by now, there are wild speculations.

The only real improvement I see it having over RDNA 4 is wider instruction set support. FP4/2 is now the chase. Then also some more bespoke hardware to address some current shortcomings.

I do hope that Intel hasn't cancelled Celestial, and Nvidia possibly lending them CUDA support will make Intel GPU's considerably more attractive. I don't think Nvidia will include them within an ecosystem, which could shut Intel out in time. The optics won't be good. Nonetheless, the possibility now exists.

Just have to wait and see.....at least it is the devil you know, with intel and nvidia.....if this AI bubble ever bursts, boy it is going to be messyyyyy

In Terminator 3, when Skynet was activated, one of the lab personnel stated:

“Skynet is operating at 60 teraflops”

Which is less than the power of one RTX 4090 (82.6 TFLOPS)
