New The PC Build Thread

Still high but at least, not kidney price lol. When I build my system, I was thinking about only getting 16gig ended up going 32gig but higher latency. Even my ram kit at the higher latency is now 5K and climbing. Honestly 32gig is the way to go now
Prices have gotten insane and the higher latency is not a dealbreaker especially when the price for the 6000 CL 30 kit was over 5K at the time.

It seems that Nvidia will be kicking CES2026 off with gaming, obviously powered by AI, but I see they have some new non-AI technologies on showcase.

Ok was on the forum :-( last seen June
No im here just busy sadly

i get emailed when there is replies etc. I sadly dont sit on the forum as much as id want to :(

1000 Apologies.
But yeah i get the emails just not on this one time (i got on and searched myself see if i missed anything how i found this.)
I am interested in getting that Arctic screwdriver, but I don't know whether I will use it. So, it will be a collector's item. Some products like these are so overhyped or simply repackaged Chinese warez. Almost all tools I use are China (or Hong Kong) made, and I have never had an issue with them.

I have a ratchet set here, not Xiaomi, that is now a bit old, but it looks almost exactly like the Arctic set. The precision kit, there are a lot out there, many that are the same. Corsair had a DIY kit, and I wasn't bothered with buying one since it is the same as any other kit like it.

Never have I used electric screwdrivers in any system work.

Just curious what the quality is like, and I am not paying to get an LTT screwdriver. People might rave over it, but I am not.

I have no idea who Tech Guy SA is, and I haven't used Titan-Ice in years.

Note: There seems to be an error on Titan-Ice's website,

yeah, that is not the price.

Looks nice:

It is not a new product; I have seen it on the interwebz some months ago already. It was on NAG that I heard that it is now being sold here.

I have no idea what Artic's RRP is on these tools, but they tend to be aggressive. I will say this: it is not competitively priced here, given the options. I guess it depends on the quality.

Been around 5 years (6 in this year) but thats okay there are a LOT of us out there (not so much last few years).

as for those kits I personalyl dont use them no specific reason im still using a tool kit i got in 2020 for laptops etc and havent had a reason to upgrade yet (unless i have to work on a Macbook).

have a socket tool for inverters so kinda did upgrade as well in a way.

im gonna bookmark this thread though.

Why could they not just release a modified 40 series call it Lite Edition (LE) or something.

3060 still decent either way. but the whole thing doesnt make sense to me cause your specific memory chips going to AI you willing to keep producing other memory chips.

or you just have a lot left and clearing those.

How are you finding the handheld life?

I had an MSI Claw but didn't see much use after a while. I guess I prefer sitting and playing at a desk.
So I ended up taking it with me to Mozambique. It was brilliant. Jammed in the car, and had a uGreen powerbank to help charge in there. Evenings it was docked on the TV and everyone watched me play Dispatch. Had it on the beach a few times as well for the times everyone else slept and tanned, and then played on the deck while everyone slept late and the sun was coming up. This thing has changed how i play games completely. The best tech purchase I have ever made.

Also chuffed I bought it for 9999 when it's already gone up 3k a month later now.

Seeing HUB's quick DLSS 4.5 review, one can only hope that NTC could improve the RTX 20/30 use case scenarios. Compilers, and how previous gen NVIDIA GPUs are optimised by the developers, will play a much bigger role.

The downside with NTC is that there will likely be a latency hit, but the last time I watched a NTC tech demo, that was much improved. For all I know, by the time it ships mainstream there might even be a latency win. Cache on both the CPU, GPU, the interconnect, as well as the RAM will be the big impacters. Then there are also some other stacks, but I am not going to do a GPU write up here.

At least you NVIDIA RTX users are getting the option. AMD is mum on RDNA 3. NVIDIA could also be training INT8, or other models, that could be better supported by their previous generation GPUs. Both AMD and NVIDIA are already targeting FP4... Dunno whether they are training 'gaming' upscaling models though.

Reading all the Intel news, and seeing how well Panther Lake has been received. Well, it still needs to be reviewed, but who cares about mobility, right? Anyhow, I guess Intel has made a return, and it seems that they are having way more positive yields than ever. In 2027, Intel and AMD might be neck-and-neck again, and that is a good thing. Except that we might not have actual RAM to pair with the new motherboards and CPUs.

The B770 is also most certainly coming, but I think they are putting it on hold due to allocations... /cough DRAM.

The worst part is that crypto mining might make a slight return. Conditions pending. Though this will not impact new GPUs it will screw the used market even more.

I did the math on a certain crypto that I am not going to name, and it adds up. I think they nailed their whitepaper. Say it gains interest, also given its current low cap, things could go wacky.

Not exciting times at all.

I am only happy that the AMD Radeon community is slowly waking up to the bullschit and is now actively nagging AMD to support older hardware. Sadly I think RDNA 2 will most likely not make the cut, there are some unshakable limitations when it comes to modern Shader Model support.

I mean in terms of Timing. I upgraded before the RAM prices went nuts, and bought the 5070Ti for 14.5k. My CPU I bought is already out of stock everywhere, and the RAM more than twice the price, and now the GPU is gone (My model), or 19k here for the few left. They will be gone soon going by this as well, and everything else will go up in price too.

Okay yeah no absolutely, I watched the 5070 Ti go up from 15k to 18.5k in under a month, we don't even talk about RAM.

I thought for a second you were talking about it being "discontinued" because I already saw someone ask if they should return their 5070 Ti and get a 5080 because it's end of life now and had a good chuckle.

Oh lol no im super happy with it and now even more happy with it! Though maybe it's time to buy a 9070XT for 14.5k, then sell the 5070Ti for 25k in a few months as it's value sky rockets lol.

Dodged a bullet when I upgraded. Jeepers.

It was rumoured last year in September already that the RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti will be discontinued. EoL is a harsh phrase, since that would mean that the architecture isn't supported. Only some models, and its variants, are discontinued. This news was spread at a time that NVIDIA would have announced the SUPER. The SUPER is happening or not happening. AIB partners, once renewing their GPU consignments, will also have to source their own DRAM since it isn't bundled anymore. The latter part I would assume why so many 16GB models are being discontinued. AMD will go the same way. They could as well at this time go with HBM memory, yes it is much more expensive, but tooling is now being set up to produce HBM due to AI demand.

I think on the GPU side, this could be a year long drought.

Imagine the Intel B770 uses HBM  It will be expensive, but at least it will be available.

At this point in time it rumoured that RTX 60 and UDNA/RDNA 5 will be announced at around the same time in 2027. Neither can do paper launches.
