The 5070ti is better for ray tracing, not sure if it's 5k better
The RDNA 4 series does not natively support SM 6.9 in its entirety, nor 6.10. Several technologies have now been adopted by DirectX and are no longer exclusive to Nvidia. How will this play out in the short to medium term? Dunno, but anything below RDNA 4 does not look to be in a good spot.

Recently, Alan Wake 2 was also upgraded to DXR standards. RDNA 4, though it doesn’t support SER apart from a compliance check, which is still lacking in RDNA 3. RDNA 4 is also missing OMM.

Overall, RTX 40 and 50 are both more advanced, or bespoke, than RDNA 4.

This will change with RDNA 5, but that could still be six months to even 1.5 years away.

For now, RDNA 4 is still a good buy, but it isn’t strong in AI/ML workloads. It should only be considered as a gaming GPU. In a gaming sense, RDNA 4 is good value. Longevity is the question mark because we are rapidly moving into a software world where localized inference is key.

I mention this due to the skyrocketing GPU prices where upgrading couldn't be feasible.

My thinking still leans toward AMD wanting their customers to buy their partner's RDNA 5 consoles. If I’m right, they won't say it out loud.
 
Maybe the undervolt and overclock were just a tad too aggressive?
I mean, it was stable as I had it for literally around 5 years, so who knows? Even slightly adjusting it didn't do much so had to remove everything except the undervolt in the end.

Another problem with my upgrade is I now have to upgrade my PSU to 850W, too, because my current ones 750W may not cut it if I decide to go the 9070 XT route. It uses a lot more juice than the 5070ti.
 
So, due to availability issues with specific parts in my upgrade list, I've decided, for now, to replace the culprit that led me down this path in the first place: the GPU.

Loathe to stick to Team Red, even though I've been with them for who knows how long now despite all the issues. Time for a fresh start, so I've ordered this.

750 should still be fine, what cpu do you have?

5600X. Thing is, in most side-by-side benchmarks I've watched, the 9070 XT almost always pulls about 75-100W more than the 5070ti. It'll tide me over on my 750W PSU until I can get all the other parts (including an 850W PSU).

A 5600x and a 9070xt would be about 400w to 460w from the wall. But yeah the 5070ti would be about 350 to 420 or so.
But the 5070ti is going to be effected by cpu driver overhead.
This would lead to less power usage though as the gpu will only ever hit 80%, may be the same for the 9070xt as well cause the gpu won't hit 100% either

Have factored in the bottleneck already, yes. I've gone for the GPU now because I simply don't trust my 6700 XT anymore, and was going to replace it early next year anyway, after I'd upgraded everything else (including 5600X > 9800X3D). But, like I said, I've run into supply issues with the AIO and motherboard I want (ETA is "weeks away" according to my supplier - and that usually means months).
 
New card is in and doing its thing. Massive bottleneck with the 5600x, so hopefully all my parts are in stock soon (and cheaper).

For the life of me couldn't figure out why a) the card was such a mission to get into the slot and b) had a massive sag on it. Sure, it's an absolute unit, but the angle it was sagging was a bit ridiculous. When I powered on the PC, I also had a black screen regardless of which DP port I was using. Reseated the card, reconnected power (12vHPWR instead of the octopus connector that came with the card) and finally had a picture. Card was still tricky to get into the slot, and still sagged a lot.

Powered down, removed the GPU and inspected it, which is when I found the issue: was quite concerning, because the card (from a well-known high street retailer) arrived with the rear IO shield clipped onto the front of the cooler! Will post pics later, but because the IO shield was attached to the backplate, it literally bent the backplate and the PCB underneath it towards the IO shield. Could only have happened in the factory. Had to use a bit of force to unclip the IO shield, and the backplate and PCB thankfully straightened out almost immediately. GPU then went in perfectly this time, and was straight in the case without the need for a support. Sure that everything was A-OK, I attached the GPU support bracket that came with the card. Powered on, and everything has been running beautifully since (with a bottleneck - still slow, but at least everything looks beautiful lol).

I've benched the heck out of the thing, and had no issues, so can only assume there was no structural damage to the PCB or GPU.

You can't really see it in the first pic showing off the insane bend, but in the second pic where the card has already started straightening out, there's a lip on the cooler right at the bottom. The section of the IO shield jutting out was clipped onto it there.

I thought possibly the IO shield was too narrow or something, which is why they forced it on, but the manufacturer's image shows it clearly wasn't meant to be clipped on there.
