Need advice on selecting tyres for my car, Jetta 6 1.4tsi, 205/55/16
Phoned around for quotes and got excellent deals on Dunlop, Goodyear and Pirelli
In fact the deals for all 3 of above mentioned brands were the same.
Can anyone please provide sound advice that would assist me in my decision.
Much Appreciated

Thanks, but the deals from TWT are expensive

So the problem isn't the range you've been offered....but rather you want something dirt cheap?

Generally cheap = unsafe or fast wearing or both.

Out of those 3 brands you mentioned I would choose the Pirelli Cinturato P1 Verde.

Looks like the guy has three options and he needs advice on which brand to go for?

He just named three brands, not specific tyres.

That could change everything.

He also lamented that they all cost the same.

How much are you being quoted on what specific model numbers? That should help people to give an opinion if you are getting value for money

It looks to me like he is happy with the deals he got and just wants advice on what to go for between the three.

So you get s**t Pirelli's?

Well not ****, but you could find another brand in the same price bracket has a better tyre available for any given model year.

You can't just trust the brand as a whole.

I've had some pretty **** Pirelli tyres on the bike before for not being fit for the purpose claimed. Great in summer when they are warm...but dare allow them to cool down in winter for even a few seconds and they are utter shite until they warm up again.

Whatever is on the car now.

https://www.tirerack.com has research and reviews for many tires if you really think there will be any significant difference between three reputable brands on a grocery getter car.

Not the case at all, I am not going for the dirt cheap option, I was quoted R900ea for the brands mentioned, there were quite a few other "dirt cheap" brands offered to me which range between R600-R800. I was just requesting some advice on this forum, thanks for your opinion.

That's not too terrible pricing.

In your boat I would have probably put the Goodyear Eagle F1's on as I had a good experience with them before at a decent price.

Just don't touch Continental and I would probably avoid Dunlop by default.

They are all pretty decent brands with long heritage. What kind of driving do you do? Are you looking for a harder compound tyre that will last longer but provide less grip or a softer compound that gives more grip but wears quicker? Also, depending on your driving style, you might want to check the pattern on the tyre. Different patterns will be better/worse for different styles of driving.

If you want to just get from A-B on a reliable tyre, i'd ask for a slightly harder compound and pick any of those 3. They are all decent at the end of the day. Do any of them perhaps come with a better road warranty than the other? Go for that one...

For me personally, I drive a bit on the quick side and would go for a softer compound with a 'sportier' tread pattern but that wouldn't be the right choice for you if you were just a normal person going from A-B.

Hope this helps somewhat
