New Uncapped Product ?

Applied, for the adsl cost I forgot to include the line rental, use Closer 5 package

WickedWeasel,

is this a 1:1 service or is it also split network prioritization (local : international)

interested:

3. Uncapped (Http, Email, Gaming, Msn, Skype, News Server)

does that still include torrents ?

Guys,

This question is in the open so that everyone can benefit from it.

Would anyone use or buy an uncapped product that does not support p2p at a much lower cost. but example gaming, email and http

so you could have a
uncapped (limited) - http and email
uncapped (gaming) - http, email and gaming

all running via SAT3

Will this be a one price product (the new thing from Telkom)

We will be aiming this product as a one price product, however we are waiting for clarification from Telkom as to when this we become available. Guys these products will not support torrents.

One price - cool!

You know somebody would sooner or later find a way to abuse a system like this though right and screw it up for everyone.. At least 9 times out of 10 torrent users will find a way to rape a system into the ground. :(

Though there are many that could realy take advantage of it. I mean for me, I mainly use my unshaped line to play online games with. Now one month you get that email you have been waiting for half a year for to Beta test a new game.. and you see the download as 6 gigs.. After calculating the cost of just downloading, you rather just walk away. Pretty much the same thing with World of Warcraft being downloadable, it was cheaper to import it, than to try pay for the BW to download.

But I have a question.. Problem here is again, The WoW downloader and many new games now days.. use torrents for these files. Its usually a once a month type thing when you have to download a large patch and not more than 300 megs at a time if ever that big, What would happen with a situation like that?

Just about to ask the same question. As a gaming solution, it's pretty useless if I cant download updates to play the games.

Damn saw this thread too late, I am interested, especially for the unshaped part, and the uncapped is a bonus. Now the question begs, does it work and how much?

There are solutions for gamers. 1 unshaped account for the actual gaming and 1 shaped account for the updating/downloading.

That however defeats the object does it not? It no longer becomes a "gaming solution", but rather a gaming problem

WickedWeasel said option 2 and 3 for example would be for gaming, It doesn't help much if you need two accounts in order to play your games, or have to switch accounts each time you want to do something different.

What if I want to play and my wife needs to send a 1 gig file to her "Boss" in the USA? I dont want to have to log in to the router and change the account details each time she wants to work. Plus I then have to sit with 2k latancy because I'm now on unshaped..

Its just not practical never mind the fact that it gets costly to have multiple accounts with different ISP's. We are used to doing this because Telkom has forced us too and now we accept it as the norm.. its BS and it shouldnt be like that

Can't agree more.

As you brought it up I'm in a similar situation. I have my router handling my main, usually internationally capped, IS account and let my computers initiate a pppoe connection when necessary. With these guys wanting to reconfigure, and lock me out of my router who's to say I'd still be able to do that.

I hate having to resort to kludges in order to have a reasonable internet service.
