New Windows-powered tablet-notebook hybrids now in SA

I see esquire is also selling it now, price is almost the same as Makro. How do you buy and resell at that price...

Well I got my CM chassis from Takealot incl delivery for cheaper than buying from the Cm agents. I see it so often now that I can get stuff online cheaper than going staight to the dealerships. It is a wonder how those places are still in business. Maybe it's the government tenders that keep them going

Because when you buy bulk from esquire you get a hefty discount over what you see as a low volume buyer.

Is there a MyBB Metro app? Is anyone interested in making one? I haven't checked yet if Tapatalk has a Metro implementation.

Yes... there is Tapatalk for the Metro / Modern UI in the Windows Store.

It is OK, better than the new Android version I think.

Not sure if worth it. Customs will probably hit you on import duties. Plus I doubt it would be here before xmas.

as from today you can place your order online. Today the tablet launched in the US

I think RichardG is referring to Makro now enabling online purchasing of the 10.1", it was not available on the Makro site for online purchase previously and one had to purchase it in-store.

Forgive the stupid question, but I'm not a tablet person: to what extent will installing an SD card mitigate the fact that the South African model comes with only 16GB ?

I presume that even a class 10 SD card will be slower, but is there anything else that one should think about ?

Other thing is the fact that flash memory has a finite amount of write cycles, so you should steer away from any app that does a ferocious amount of unnecessary file IO. Like defragging.

Does the 8" support HDMI out such that you can plug her in to a large screen and use a Bluetooth keyboard as a fully functional PC?

Or does the free character of sub 9" Win 8 restrict against large screens

Warcraft 3 runs beautifully.

Most older games should run quite well.

So does Little Inferno, but the tablet gets bloody hot at the back. I was nearly dealing with a real inferno... :p

Any more usage reports from the guys that bought these devices?

Thinking of getting one, but 2 things are causing me to doubt 1) 1gb of ram, 2) on 16gb storage (of which 5 is used for the OS)

Ram is only a problem if you are planning to run some complex application. For watching films, doing light office work and playing older games it is more than adequate.

Memory is/was a problem for me, I have ordered a 64Gb SD card to sort it out.
