Millions asked for it, and Microsoft is providing it: the old Start Menu is coming back. Kind of. At its Build conference today, Microsoft announced a new Start Menu that looks like a hybrid of the best of Windows 7 and Windows 8. It's around the same size as the Windows 7 menu, but also features miniature Live Tiles along one side. It's not quite ready for the Windows 8.1 update coming later this month, but is likely to be a major selling point for the next version of Windows, thought to be called Windows 9.

They were so impressed they even brought the camera up close for a zoom. LOL.

Now that I can live with. Looks sweet.

Finally people can stop complaining?

That actually looks the part. Will miss the start page though. I actually fall in love with the start page (Metro)...

I hope there is a way to disable this crap and keep with the current start menu..

However on a unrelated to the startmenu, in Biometrics picture, it seems you can run metro apps in a window. Now that is a useful update.

I'm a Win 8 hater and this looks great to me. Give me that and I'll install 8 in a flash!
