Next iOS version could drop support for iPhone SE

The next version of Apple's mobile operating system, iOS 15, will not support older iPhone models - including the original iPhone SE.

This is according to a report by Softpedia News, which said iOS 15 will drop support for every iPhone older than the iPhone 7, meaning that if you have an iPhone 6s or earlier model you will be unable to update to the newest version of the operating system.

Are you under the illusion that the phone will just stop working?
Don't you realise who you are asking the question to?
It is pointless.

You are just adding oil the the 'endless drivel' fire...

of course not, just wont get updates,
problem is with all the new threats becoming common, a phone without updates is vulnerable.
Apple still offers security updates for older phones.

Mea culpa. :o

Similar to a Samsung that only gets 2 android version upgrades at most then is stuck on an older version?

Lol yet most Android apps still support Android Lollipop that came out in 2014.
This has nothing to do with app support? You will still be able to use your apps. I still use all my apps on my iPad mini that lost support ages ago (iOS12?).
in case you were thinking of keeping your old Iphone going,
Apple makes sure you cant do that.
Why exactly can't you use your phone? Could you not use your android after you didn't get the yearly updates anymore?

We still get security updates on our (unsupported phones) we just don't get the new iOS versions. I get regular iPad mini updates (iOS 12.?.?)

Genuine question since I do not know, Apple tends to drop support for new OS updates after 5-6 years, how long does the likes of Samsung/Sony etc. keep support by comparison?

point is, a phone without (security) updates is vulnerable,
if it stops receiving official updates, its a good sign to get another phone and throw the old one away.
(unless you heavily buck the disposable phone trend and root and get unofficial monthly updates)

and apples business model is exactly that, get another phone, whatever happens.
fine if your on Contract, and you dont care, but for those buying cash?

not such a nice thought, forced to buy another phone whenever Apple wants more money out of you.
sure you could keep it in a drawer, but using it everyday is a bit of a gamble,

yes Samsung is copying Apple now, but they been doing that for a while now.

wouldn't know, as I root heavily and use ancient phones because I hate supporting this culture of buy another every 2 years.

Why do you keep posting if you're not even going to read the replies?

you can use it until you've worn a Hole in the screen,
problem is all the software, and thats where they get you,
Apple being the greedy people they are,

stop support=stop warranty=stop providing updates=stop new threats.

like I said, you can use your "cheap" iphone till the cows come home,
but if Apple decides to stop support, your pretty much screwed.

new features wont come out, new security updates wont be installed,
and new apps might not work, especially on Apple that hates "old" stuff.

and Apple being the dishonest people they are, the last update will slow down the clock speed,
or degrade the Battery somehow, or something else nefarious like that.

not to Say Samsung is any better,
they have to contine making money from you, somehow
