Just wanna say that whatever you're doing Ed, its working, my latency on CS source has been great lately with a constant ping of 60 where I used to get between 100-120. I thought this was good because my friend with 512 adsl gets about 50 ping..

Well done iburst :D

Thanks Ed.

I'm also now surfing the web as it is suppose to be. Good inprovement, excellent speed.

Thank you very much guys.

Cape Town still needs some attention...

Hi Ed

Yes thanks it sure is an improvement, no more timeouts and latency back to normal.

The BW (Gardens Tower AVE: RF -52db FER 0.28) during office hours needs to be look at, as after-hours it's in the high 900kbps, however during office hours it drops to 200 - 300kbps.

Local latency seems fine.

International latency is back to normal.

Holy poo....I'm getting an average local ping of 55ms.....and I don't even have an external attenna.....

Michael, the iBurst site is hosted in JHB, so from Cape Town the pings will probably never be in the 60's.

Try pinging myadsl.co.za to get good local pings. That should be around 60ms.

Just remember the iBurst network is ususally nice and responsive during the daytime over weekends.

Acid test will be on Mon, specifically in prime time 7-9pm.

I don't know if it is a better iBurst conntection or being able to use my Linux Gateway again (After having troubles getting the new modem to work), but for the first time (ever since I got the game somewhere last year) I can play Tremulous (http://tremulous.net/) on oversees servers almost as if I am playing on a LAN. Even though I get a ping between 100-500, most servers are very much playable, with almost no lagging.

Thanks anyway!

Read this and weep

Ping statistics for 196.30.31.120
Packets sent = 100, Received = 100, Lost = 0%
Minimum = 29ms, Maximum = 31ms, Average = 30ms.

UpStream Connection Speed 384 kbps

A bit slow, but so much better than iBurst.

Well obviously internal/local ADSL pings are going to be good, its pure cable connection.

But a good iBurst international ping to google can get around 250-350ms, which isn't far off ADSL. Only if you are in JHB though.. quite irritating down in Cape Town where international sits in the 500's permanently.

But those download speeds :D I'd love that, even though with my cap it wouldn't be all that useful...

Nice improvement, my ass..

My frustration is gone (for now if Telkom keeps it all going) and money saved!
