Found some T&Cs.

I sent the *111#,1,5 USSD command and received a message saying I have 1GB available.
I was expecting to see two balances; my daytime balance and my after-hours balance.
How can I check my available after-hours balance?
You can [-]quickly[/-] check your Night Owl balance by calling 155 free from a Vodacom cellphone, or 082 155 from any other phone.
Is there any other way to check my Night Owl balance besides calling 155?
You can check your Night Owl balance by logging onto vodacom.co.za or vodacom4me, or SMS 'mm' to 31050, or through the *111# USSD menu. Balances seem to be updated at midday.

Is there carry-over for the after-hours balance?
In other words, if I don't use all of my after-hours MBs this month, will I be able to use them after hours next month?
6. The expiry period of the free Night Owl data will be the same as the bundle it is allocated against:
a. A calendar month for monthly bundles.
b. The end of the following calendar month for Once-off bundles.

Sounds like no Night Owl carry-over for month-to-month bundles, but Night Owl on ad-hoc bundles lasts (up to) 60 days.

Is the rule simply that any data downloaded between 00:00 and 05:00 comes off a separate 1GB cap, or is there a catch that the data session needs to be started and terminated during those hours?

Does the Night Owl promotion work on the 'unrestricted' and the 'iphone.vodacom.za' APNs?
So far it is working on the 'unrestricted' APN.

Hey ginggs. Had a look on my system and yes...you are now on the Advanced 1GIG....but it only gives me the bundles for your 1Gig normal and minutes etc...not for the night owl. Perhaps VD can tell us how you check the balance for your night owl when he logs in.

If I remember correctly from the memo that I received regarding this promo...no, it does not carry over to the next month. I will just double check this again Monday post here.

Answer : 100 % correct for all points above.

Answer : Nope, billing is summarized after 5 so whatever Mb’s used during night owl will come from that allocation.

@VD: There has got to be a better way to do this. I did some Night Owl tests shortly after midnight this morning and tried to get my balance by calling 155 around 08:30.

The first time I called I selected 1 for broadband related queries and then 3 for data account query. Within a few minutes I spoke to an operator who said she needed to transfer me to the accounts department to get my balance. After half an hour of Africa by Toto I gave up. Call duration 33:30.

Wondering why I was put through to accounts when you and your website specifically state to call 155, I called again, selected 1 for broadband related queries and then tried to work out which number to select next. I took too long and was routed to the next available agent. After asking for my Night Owl balance, I was put on hold a few times and eventually the agent came back to tell me that nothing was coming up on her system, but she could see that I was on the Night Owl promotion. She then said she would put through a service request to the Advanced Data department. She then asked me to stay on the line to rate the service and then I got a 'number does not exist message'. Call duration 21:54.

Hi Ginggs

I sent you an email with my response.

I sent you an email with my response.
Received thanks. So according to your system by 07:00 I had not used any of my Night Owl data but I know that between 00:15 and 01:30 I used somewhere between 50 and 100MB of data on Ubuntu updates and a couple of speed tests. I suppose it is possible that the data had not yet been allocated by 07:00.

I'll check tonight before downloading anything to see where it has been allocated.

So until you have a better system in place, what numbers do you suggest pressing after calling 155 to get one's Night Owl balance?

A communication has been sent out to all 155 Call centre staff on how to check the Night owl balances. So for now you would need to call them or pm me.

Can you maybe send it out again please?
It took 14 minutes 33 seconds to check my Night Owl balance this morning.

One other thing, it seems clear now that the balance as at 07:00 does not include the usage from 00:00 - 05:00 earlier that morning. Would you be able to check mine through the day today and see when my usage from this morning appears? Then we'll at least know what time to check our balances.

Cool, thanx. Is there any way to check this extra bandwidth on a 3G modem, i.e. a sim card without a cellphone, but only a 3G modem?

Ginggs , can you please confirm if the mm view is on vodacom.co.za as well ?

Remember you can call 082155 for Vodacom data enquiries
Or send *111#,1,5 by USSD to see this:

I have a 10GB monthly package ..... checked this morning to see if I also have a free 1GB .... NO I don't. Why is it that only those who can afford a 1GB package get it? By all rights if you get 1Gb free for buying 1Gb .... then those buying 10GB should get 10GB free .... ???? Something not quite adding up here in Vodacom's reasoning, reward the cheapskates and keep punishing those who pay a frikkin fortune every month.
