Ok so if I have anytime data already on my sim card and I buy a night surfer on that same sim card and I stay up till 12am to use the night surfer: Will my anytime data also be used up in the process as if it's allocated to the night surfer?

I've never bought a night surfer before but internet is down so I'm considering buying it.

Not sure about other networks, but with Telkom, once the clock strikes 12 midnight, the Night Time data usage automatically kicks in & will set aside any other type of Data plan until 7am, so no your Anytime data will not be used up until 7am
Thanks for the reply! That's a relief.

Test it out but I wouldn't blindly trust it works the way you're hoping for or expecting it to.

I'd always rather buy a separate SIM and dedicate Night data to it, even if more inconvenient.

I have a Telkom Prepaid app on my phone (don't think available for download anymore) and have often enough noticed that my night data allocation is still listed lower than Anytime (meaning or implying it's inactive on their network), 1/2 an hour past midnight.

Just keep an eye on your data usage, should you've decided on using only the 1 SIM.

Yeah, I had like 739mb remaining on my anytime data(I made sure to check the total amount before midnight). I managed to use 5gb at least with only 10mb deducted from my anytime data. I think it's better to wait 5 minutes before using the night surfer lol. I was panicking when I saw the anytime data balance.

If you find you're regularly (ie. monthly) using hundreds of Rand on Telkom data, and having to monitor it to the extent it's driving you mad, consider just getting a SIM from Axxess.

For R299 you get 120 + 120 GB (plus unused Anytime data rolls over to the following month, just as with Telkom, directly) ; that's possibly more night data than you're getting on night surfer, currently (100 GB, or could be 150 GB ?).

I'm with Axxess on the 80 + 80 GB @ R249.

What I like about Axxess is cancellation is always easy through their portal (note - earliest is end of the next month), along with reasonable monthly charges.

Maybe not the best - MWeb & Web Africa might have cheaper month to month packages, but their support apparently a nightmare these days, and Axxess have better Telkom LTE rates than Afrihost (who own them) do.
