Nikon D700

tax is your normal 14% (or how many ever) VAT. Someone posted a link for the customs some time ago - can't remember.

Call UPS and ask them for an exact cost on customs etc, it is very expensive.

:( If it's gonna end up a lot then I might as well buy the stuff here. When you say a lot, do you mean hundreds or thousands?

Ok I'll see if I can find it.

Call them and ask, they ended up being so expensive I bought my alpha locally, I called them on Monday, worked out too expensive on the camera however on lenses and accessories it will be cheaper over there

Do yourself a favour and DONT use UPS - they charge a brokerage fee and, from what I found you will pay duties even if the item is duty free.

I usually use International Express Mail with bhphoto, takes about 2 weeks - but I haven't had any problems with delivery or nasty duty surprises (only VAT and like a R100 clearance fee). As far as I'm aware (and from personal experience) - import duties on cameras and lenses have been dropped.

Like I said, I didn't pay anything.

Anyways, I just quoted them because they were the cheapest (and slowest) shipping option B&H gave for the D700.

No worries - was talking w.r.t what marine1 said.

Strange, I get quoted $117.50 with International Express Mail as the cheapest and slowest option.

Thanks for this.

Aah, you're right. They did have that option but I didn't think letting S.A. Post Office anywhere near a $3000 purchase is such a smart idea :)
