You're falling for a 50 year old scam, engagement rings are only around because of de beers. Well ones with big diamonds on, just get her a nice simple gold band

Yeah, telling her that it's a scam is going to make her feel great about not getting a proper engagement ring. Said no man ever.

I don't see the benefit. The most important thing is that she is happy. I wouldn't want her accommodating my anti-establishment sentiments in her thoughts during such a special time.

My dad didn't get my mom a diamond engagement ring. She had a ring designed to her specification and chose the precious stones. The centre piece was an emerald. Ending up being just as expensive as a diamond ring. So if your girl is into diamonds, you may as well just get her a diamond ring.
 
Propose and then take her to choose the ring or design it herself.

Rather that than giving her something that you know won't be right.

Rather propose and then get her to choose/design one later. There is no law that says you have to have a ring to propose. Give her a long stemmed red rose for now.

Everyone is closed until atleast the 5th.

Im probably going to get a band for the proposal and then focus on the ring afterwards :)
 
Ok so ive made a plan to get a silver ring made that has sea sand (from the same beach where the proposal is gna happen!) in a casing as its centre piece :)

Ill get the proper wedding ring at a later stage, maybe with her input :)
