I'm guessing a new player would maaaaaybe have the portable refiner at that stage of the game? Don't think I'd visited the anomaly by the time I'd built my first base, so wouldn't have the backpack refiner. It was that very basic wooden base and they hit you with a storm while you're trying to get the roof sorted :ROFL:

Oooh right, though you could get the portable refinery from the base computer. It has been years

I've restarted a few times but still not 100% sure, I think you get that actual portable one that you have to pick up and put down. Then the backpack one from the vendor in the anomaly. I even vaguely remember a time when we didn't have the backpack refiner and now we have 2 versions of it!!

I honestly can't remember and I've done a few expeditions which are fresh starts most times.
Though do remember the portable refiner is given to you when you find your ship. Otherwise it would be hard to get pure ferrite and other minerals normally locked behind advanced laser stuff. Cause that part you need the anomaly and nanites

Was wondering if your weekend gaming plans happened! There are quite a few bugs which they will hopefully fix soon but thankfully nothing game-breaking on my side.

Does it really matter what shape we build if we can add upgrades to improve the manoeuvrability? It doesn't seem to take the parts/weight into account, right? I've increased mine from 300ish to 800 now, will have to see if I can feel the difference when it flies around a planet.

It does actually take into account parts, I removed a couple of parts and my manoeuvrability went up a bit, not a lot but some. So it does seem that parts/weight may come into it. I would need to experiment more with the flying apartment, maybe strip it back and make it more streamlined.
 
I haven’t played since the new No Man’s Sky update. The discussions on Reddit became so overwhelming that I had to leave and block several groups, especially because of all the hype around this update, screenshots completely flooded my feed.
That said, I’ll give the new expedition a try this evening.
 
Finished the Expedition, streamlined the flying Apartment :) for the photo part.

Thanks, the top one was from the Expedition, if I don't bring it in, it's gone forever :). I've not worked on the military one I created yet, been hunting for parts and using the corvette storage a lot :).
The mini freighter is now kitted out sort of, first floor is the cargo bay, with all the storage. Second floor is the living quarters with 6 crew berths, nutrition bay and a med bay, with the mission computer just behind the cockpit. Moved the cockpit down to first floor, landing dock to the back and cut down on extraneous engines and stuff to try streamline it. So it looks a tad different even from the above pic :-)
Plus on the tech front, it only carries the photon cannon and the infraknife accelerator (which is at over 45k dps), the hyperdrive is sitting at 2175ly and maneuverability is at 950 not great but compared to the 500 it used to be :). Did try stopping some pirates, but accidentally shot at the freighter I was protecting and caused them to turn against me as well, so once pirates were gone I emergency warped out of there.

Have you also upgraded the mini freighter to S class? Out of interest, was there a weapon (turret) to install that works with the infra-knife? I couldn't find one.

From Reddit, look at the infra-knife stats and maneuverability!

Yeah it's at S Class, but the tech super charge points are all over the place. I've not gotten all the pirate or S class parts on for boosting the infra, nor the hyper drive. Just some ones I had laying around. Thinking a corvette technically doesn't need aquajets cause you can just hover and jump out anyway.
I may bring in the expedition corvette to strip, cause I suddenly realised it's got parts I want.
 
So my more militaristic corvette, shrunk it down a bit to make it more maneuverabile. Looks rather sticky now. But look at the stats, damage claims to not be good, but it took down the pirate dread neither in about a 3 minutes

Impressive stats!!! It's looking good, can you feel the improved manoeuvrability when flying? How many corvettes do you have now?

I finished the expedition, not yet feeling like building a corvette in my main save. Maybe when I have a ton of collected parts.
